My heroes are my mom and dad. They take care of me and help keep me alive. They take me to the doctor and help me when I'm sick. They work all the time just so they can buy me clothes and take care of me. I want to be like them someday because they are both loving people Josh S. - Manheim Township School District/Neff Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, Benjamin Franklin, invented things to help people such as the stove, the almanac, and, most importantly, electricity! I want to be like him because I would like to be able to invent new things that are helpful to people too. Also, Benjamin Franklin was smart. I admire him for that, too. Ava B. - Manheim Township School District/Neff Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, Amanda Beard, inspires me to do great things in my life. Amanda Beard swam in the last Summer Olympics when she was only sixteen. I want to be like her because she is an excellent swimmer. I will have to practice very hard to be able to achieve my goal. I hope I will get to be an athlete in the Olympics someday. Melanie M. - Manheim Township School District/Neff Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My heroes are the Wright Brothers. They inspire me to think of different ideas and try them, without being ashamed. The Wright Brothers helped the people in the world get around faster. They flew the first plane! I want to be like them because I want to try my ideas and not be afraid. To be like the Wright Brothers I will try my ideas to see if they work. I think that they contributed a lot to the world! Brent H. - Manheim Township School District/Neff Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, my mom, inspires me to give a helping hand someday. My mom teaches special education at Manheim Township HIgh School. I want to be like my mom because she helps people with disabilities. To be like my mom I will visit special homes in my spare time. I think my hero (my mom) will continue to be a great influence to me when I grow up. Megan C. - Manheim Township School District/Neff Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My "hero" is actually a musical group called FFH. But my favorite member of the group is Steve because he has a nice, deep voice that sounds like a drum. Steve seems to have fun with his job and that is why I want to be like him. If I want to sing I have to practice hard. Do you think this job is good? Leeanne - Manheim Township - Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, Charles Barkley, inspires me to say what I think and not what someone wants me to think. He always says what he thinks and if he does not like the way someone does something he tells them. I also learn from him because sometimes he does things that are wrong and then I can try not to make the same mistake. I think he is really good as basketball, too. Steven D. - Manheim Township - Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, Jurge Campos inspired me to do great things someday. He's a goalie for the Mexican National Team and for the Los Angeles Galaxy. I want to be like him because he is a good goalie and he works hard to save shots and lead his team to victory. I will have to work hard and do my best to be like him. Zach K. - Manheim Township - Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, Ken Griffey, Jr., inspires me because people make fun of him and criticize him and he still does not get into fights - and he still hits homeruns! To be like him I will not get into fights when I am made fun of. Kenneth D. - Manheim Township - Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, Domonique Moceanu, inspired me to do great things someday. Domonique Moceanu is a great gymnast. She is on the USA Olympic gymnastic team. I always wanted to be like her ever since I was nice years old, and I started to watch the TV when all the gymnasts were on doing their flips. Domonique always tries to do her best, and never gives up. If you look really close to her she always has a little smile while doing her gymnastics. I always wanted to be as good as her in gymnastics so I go to gymnastics now and always try my best. Lemonia - Manheim Township - Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero is talented, personable, outgoing and optimistic. His name is Scott Hamilton. He overcame a childhood illness and with hard work and determination throughout his competitive years of figure skating he became an Olympic champion. Currently, Scott is still inspirational to many people. Now Scott is in another battle, cancer. I admire Scott because of his hope and determination. Being a figure skater myself gives me a great respect for his accomplishments. In order to be like him I will attempt to work hard and have faith in myself. Megan B. - Manheim Township - Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, Michael Jordan, helped me to think about good things. Michael Jordan gives money to charities, helps kids and teaches kids not to do drugs, and more. I want to be like him because he does good things to help people. What I have to do is, when I get older, give money to charities and tell people not to do drugs. I know I will remember this! Austin M. - Manheim Township - Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero is my mom because she helps me with my homework and she makes me dinner every night and she love me too. I would like to be like my mom because she is passionate and because sometimes I am not. I will have to be more passionate. To be more like my mother I will try to help more people and to remember to also help myself! I want to be like my parents because I want to take care of my kids when I grow up. I hope I will do that! Matthew B. - Manheim Township - Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero was a young woman names Princess Diana. She was the Princess of England. She is my hero because she was rich and famous but she used her fame and money to help others. She helps people that were very sick and poor, especially children, AIDS victims, and land mine victims. She was kind, giving, and she taught her sons about the real world. She died at the young age of thirty-six. Emily W. - Manheim Township - Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, Benjamin Franklin, inspired me to do great things some day. Benjamin Franklin invented many things, like bifocal glasses. He also put together the first fire station and invented the lightening rod. I want to be like him because he improved and made the USA a safer place. I also want to improve our nation. Benjamin Franklin was a great inventor which, in my opinion, makes him a great person. Anne T. - Manheim Township - Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, Cal Ripkin, inspired me to play baseball. Cal Ripkin set many records and was the MVP of the American League. My favorite game was when they played the Tigers one time and beat them 12-5. I hope I can go to the Major League and beat the tigers. So far I am on the travel team, and I hit my first home run. Philip D. - Manheim Township - Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, Mother Theresa, inspired me to do great things someday. She gave up her life to help the poor and to take care of the sick, especially those with leprosy. She spent most of her time in India where people were extremely poor and sanitary conditions are terrible. I also would like to make conditions better for the poor and homeless. To be like Mother Theresa I will help to collect and donate food to my church. Sara H. - Manheim Township - Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, Sting (the music singer), helped save the rainforest by donating money. I want to be like Sting because I love the rainforest and the animals that live there. To achieve my dream I will help save the rainforest myself someday by not polluting and treat the animals and plants with respect. I hope that everyone will try to save the rainforest someday so that the rainforest gets better and better everyday. Jessica R. - Manheim Township - Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My two heroes are the Wright Brothers. They are my heroes because they invented something great - THE AIRPLANE. It took a very long time for them to finally get it right. Their scientific method was trial by error. I have always been interested in planes. I have wooden planes, gas planes and paper planes. I have also always love eagles. I am fascinated by the way they soar on the wind current. Justin P. - Manheim Township - Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My heroes are my mom and dad. I want to be like Orville by flying a new, never tested airplane when I grow up. I will become and air pilot, then I will be somewhat famous, and that's how I want to be like Orville. George S. - Manheim Township - Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My heroine, Christy Smith, inspired me to keep on going and to try new things. Christy would have me try new things on our cheering squad so I could achieve my goal of being a good cheerleader. I thank Christy. My first year of cheerleading I wasn't the best cheerleader that you would expectin factI was terrible! Then, Christy came along to coach our squad the very next year. She taught our cheerleading squad that, without the cheers, it's just a game. I wanna be like Christy and be a great cheerleader just like she is and maybe even coach a squad. I will give great spirit, smile my best and work my way up to college cheerleading because I believe that I can be the best Laura C. ever! (And maybe the best cheerleader, too!) Laura C. - Manheim Township - Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, Golda Meir, inspired me to believe in my religion and let me know that I can do anything I put my mind to. She was born on May 3, 1898, in Kyyiv, Russia and died in Jerusalem on December 8, 1978. While she was in her teens she decided she wanted to have a homeland for all Jewish people. Golda was a Zionist, and through her life was a member of many Zionist organizations. She was prime minister of Israel from 1969-1974, and she resigned from her position during the Yom Kippur War of 1973. Although she's no longer living, our memories of her remain in our hearts. Holly - Manheim Township School District/Neff Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, Rebecca Lobo was one of the first women to play in the WNBA. She inspired me to play better and she is why I want to play in the WNBA. I want to be like her because both of us love basketball and she plays in the WNBA and I really want to, too. I will have to practice my skills more and try to play against older kids to get better at my game. To be like her I will have to work harder and practice to get into the WNBA. Meggie - Manheim Township School District/Neff Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, Rosa Parks, inspired me to do the best when I grow up because she fought so that African Americans can sit on the bus anywhere they wanted to. I want to be like her because she wasn't scared to stand up for her race. She's the best hero in the world! Anita - Manheim Township School District/Neff Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My heroes, my parents, inspired me to do great things some day. My parents told me to be healthy and strong, not to be this person who sits on the couch all day eating junk foods. They help me eat good and healthy foods. They taught me the difference between right and wrong. They taught me not to smoke, do drugs, or hang out with the wrong people. I want to be like them because they are brave, they set goals, and they reach for them. I will try my best to be like my heroes. Maybe someday I could be someone's hero, too! Jessie - Manheim Township School District/Neff Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, my dad, has made a contribution to me and my brother. He feeds us, takes us places, and does many more things for us. I want to be like my dad because he's nice, strong, and works hard. I will have to work hard and learn to be as nice as him. Brent - Manheim Township School District/Neff Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, Gus Payne, makes me laugh and he plays jokes that are really funny. You can almost do anything to him and he doesn't seem to mind. He has a bald spot on his head, and I always say he should get some hair grower. Whenever he chops up trees (or cuts wood or something) he always breaks his chainsaw and has to get it repaired. I want to be like him because I want to be funnier than I am now, and I want to learn how to repair chain saws. To do this I will listen to what he says, and then try to say things the way he does. That's why he is my hero. Lee - Manheim Township School District/Neff Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My heroes, my parents, have done everything they can for my sister and I. They are my best friends. I can always talk to them. I want to be honest, caring, and devoted to everything I do. The only way I'll achieve that is to keep being honest to my friends and family. Also, I will care for people and always try my best in everything. I'll try to do my best to be like my parents. Jessica W. - Manheim Township School District/Neff Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My heroine is Princess Diana. I though she did good charity work and that she was proper, popular and pretty. I want to be like here because she had the character traits of a real legend. I will be as polite, caring, and nice as I can be to be like her. In conclusion, I'd like to note that, not only was Princess Diana a real lady, she was a compassionate person. I hope I live up to her expectations. Samantha - Manheim Township School District/Neff Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA I am my own hero, because I want to be an individual. I don't want to be a copycat, by copying someone else's actions. Even if they did good things, I want to come up with my own ideas and do my own things. Amber - Manheim Township School District/Neff Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero is Sara Levin. She has inspired me to play better golf. She has been offered golf scholarships. I want to get a golf scholarship too. I also want to play golf as well as her. If I try my best I might be qualified to be an LPGA golf professional. I will have to work very hard and long to achieve my goal. I am willing to try my very best to be the best I can be. I will practice very hard so I can be like my hero, Sara Levin. I want to be like my dad because he works with computers. He helps to fix the computers that break down at hospitals. If they don't get fixed, the patients could be charged more for their hospitalization. Debbie lost her job (her husband has no job) and her other job was low-paying. I want to be like her because she put a smile on her face throughout this difficult time. To achieve my dream of being as positive and Debbie, I will work hard and keep a smile on my face, no matter what. In conclusion, what goes up - must come down. She also was the first one in the royal family to reach out to people with AIDS. I will always remember her. Bill Waterson made cartoons about an everyday child. He is my hero because he takes everyday problems and makes them funny. Michael Jordan led the Chicago Bulls game after game to victory. He goes through every game slamming, shooting, passing and more! But, at one point, he still hadn't gotten his degree from college. So during a vacation he went back to college and finished up. To achieve my dream I'll have to complete college. I will also have to be very good at basketball. I want to be like Michael because I want to get a college degree and play for the Chicago Bulls as a pro. I will try my hardest, practice most of my free time, and do well in college! David B. - Manheim Township School District/Neff Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, is my mom. Two days out of the week she goes to a school and helps teach second-graders. The school is in the middle of the city. Also, she goes to all my school meetings and finds out things that will help me in school. I want to be like my mom because she is a loving, kind person. She does so many things, like run around so we can do what I want to do. Also, she is very outgoing. My dream is that poverty will disappear. My mom also thinks that poverty is a big reason children die. I think poverty will never disappear, but we can decrease it by not wasting food and clothing. Now you can see why my mom is my hero. She inspired people to do good things. I want to be like her because she did a lot of good for many people. I will do lots of little things and these will add up to something good. That is why I admire her. David M. - Manheim Township School District/Neff Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, Dainus Zubrus, is my hero because he never gives up. He is a 19-year-old who plays for the Philadelphia Flyers. I want to be like him because, even though he is the youngest player in the NHL, he is aggressive enough that he doesn't care who he is playing. He knows that his job is to get past the defense and help his team score. If I want to be like him I must work hard and use everything I know. Jimmy - Manheim Township School District/Neff Grade Six School - Lancaster, PA, USA My hero, Martin Luther King, inspired me to give and do things that he did. This person has made a lot of contributions. He wanted all people to be equal. Back when he was living, they wouldn't let black people ride in the front of the bus. They weren't considered equal. He made a very powerful speech that all people should be equal. After he made his speech, everybody was cheering for him. He made a difference in our lives. i want o be like him because he helped people and made a difference in our lives. To achieve my dream, I will try to help people when they need help just like he did. Also, I will try to do things that need to be done that other people don't do to make a difference.
