MY HERO AND ME

RESPONSES

Elkton ,Maryland

My heroines are the teachers from my past, present and the ones
to come in my future. All of my teachers / heroines have made many
contributions in their careers. Those contributions include : teaching
others; giving their time and creating new dreams for children, as they
have for me. The most important contribution is " contributing their
lives " to teaching. I would like to be like these heroines because I
want to reach all of my goals, in which this is one of them. I would
also like to help others achieve their dreams. In order to achieve my
dreams and this one goal I will have to study hard throughout school. I
will always do my best like the many teachers before me.

My hero, Martin Luther King ,Jr inspires me to do great things one day.
The King stood up for what he believed in to bring justice to the
country. I admire him because he made speeches to influance the minds of
others that everyone should be treated equally. I think if people wanted
to be like him, they should be confident and speak what they feel. To be
like the KIng, I will be fair , honest, and equal.

Brandi Schaffer

My hero Michael Jordan inspires me to do great things some day. Michael
Jordan is one of the best and highest paid athletes in the NBA. I want
to be like him because he does not think he could be and do everything
like Charles Barkley thinks that he can. Michael Jordan also enjoys
golf and baseball. To be like Michael I will have to work hard in
school and work towards the NBA.

Chris Smith

My mom is my hero because she is always there for me. She is there when
I need her and even when I don't. I guess that's why she is so special
to me. When I'm sick or when I'm healthy. When I;m sad or when I'm
happy. My mom is always there for me to count on. Not only that, she
follows her dreams even when people tell her she can't achieve them.
There's one thing she taught me to do and that is , Don't always
believe what people say, believe what comes from your heart. That's my
hero . When I grow up, Iwant to be a special somebody too.
Just like my hero, my mom.

The person I look up to that encourages me to be
cool is my cousin wayne . What I admire about him is how he does
things . Like when we hang out at the skating ring he always trys
to get me a girls number since he's a pro at it . And when he
stays at my house I can do more things . Every body likes his attitude.
To be more like him I won't be geeky.

There is a person that goes around touching the lives of many people.
He is an understanding friend isn't just mine.
He is always making sure he gives people a sprinkle of happiness whether
it is a smile or even his last dime.
He is always there when you need him, and a shoulder to cry on at any
time.
This person at times is as fragile as a flower, and at times as tough as
a rock.
To me this person is a hero which shouldn't be a shock.

You may not know him for he is not famous,
he could just be a stranger on the bus.
He is funny and a sweet as honey.
He is my inspiration and my light when it isn't sunny.
I love him very much and I hope we never part.
For these many reasons he will always be in a special corner of my
heart.
He is a great guardian and will always be until the end.
And for these many reasons he is the best present Santa could ever send.
Even until this day I believe my father is my hero.

Eeore is my hero,
he is on the show with Pooh.
But the question everyone is wondering
is what's the matter with you?

He is always sad, mad or grumpy,
but he's also so carefree.
I am not sure why he is my hero,
but I know he is just like me.

We are both always grateful,
for what we get most.
He eats thistle,
and I eat toast.

He never gets hopes up,
cause then they will be put back down.
Eeore is my role-model,
but he is so short to the ground.

He is my hero because
I love him,
and I know that
he loves me!!!

My hero, Peter Ferrante, inspires me to do great things someday.
Peter helped St. Marks high school to winning the state championship. I
would like to be a goalkeeper that is as good as he is. Also I would
like to feel the happiness that he felt when he was holding the trophy.

If I would like to be like him, I would have to get my oldest cousin to
train my goalie alot more than he normally does. I also could get him to
train me. I also will have to bring my grades up to get into the school.

This is who I think my hero is, even though he is my brother.

Erich Ferrante

My hero, Martin Luther King Jr. inspires me to do great
things someday. Martin Luther King Jr. always stood up for
what he believed in. King was always a non-violent man; he
didn't physically fight ; instead , he would protest , march, or
talk about the problem. Martin Luther King Jr. helped get equal
rights for everybody. Martin Luther King Jr. inspires me to
settle my disagreements in a non-violent way. He also inspires
me to stand up for what I believe in. That is why Martin Luther
King Jr. is my hero, and why I wish to be more like him!

My hero-
My father-
Has taught me all
I know,
Helping me
Through and through
When the days are blue.
This gracious god, my father,
The essence of life he taught.
To thank him I ought.
To be like my father, I'll
Be nice to all, black or white
Big or small.
My hero-
My father.

Chris Powell

My hero, Abraham Lincoln, inspires me to do great things someday. He
made many great contributions to America. Abe made America one country
again by fighting for what he knew was right. If he had not made this
contribution, there would be no America. also, he created the
Emancipation Proclamation, this was the first step towards equality
between Blacks and Whites. He was a gentle, kind man, with half the
country liking him and half hating him. He took appropriate actions to
the situations he was in as president. To be like him, I would have to
be gentle, kind, and take appropriate actions to what situations I maybe
involved in. I would have to stand up for what I believed in, whether
that means I fight with wars or with words, also. These things and so
much more are what I would have to do to be like Abraham Lincoln. Even
through Abraham lived a short life, his contributions will live forever.
Abraham Lincoln's life and deeds were as necessary to America as oxygen
is to humans.

My heroes inspire me to do great things someday. I don't have just
one hero though, because not just one person inspired me to be what I am
today.Everyone who helped me along the way are my heroes; my sister,
parents, grandparents, teachers, and friends.
My parents are my heroes because they've always been there for me and
have taught me to always be there for those who need me. My sister is
my hero because she has always taught me to be myself (Even when I look
really stupid). She has also taught me to stand up for myself. All of
my grandparents inspired me to stay young even when I get really old.
All of my teachers have affected my life alot! I can especially
remember one teacher, Mrs. Sewell. She was really fun and we were
forever playing games. my friends have also inspired my life because if
your around the same people every day, all day at school, you start
acting like them. So, over the years I've been influenced by them.
I want to be like all of these people because they are good people and
they have helped others too. To become like these people i would need
to become more like a role model to everyone.
overall my heroes are good, honest people!

Jamie Gill

My hero is the Flash he inspires me to do great things someday. He would
fight bad people to try to clean up the city. So that every one would
have a safe and clean place to live. His help also made it so the police
didn`t half to work as hard. Would like to be like him because I don't
wont to be afraid to make a stand. Or do something I think is right. So
to be like him Will start to pick up trash that I see around my
community. Will ask other people to pick up there trash as well. I will
try to get my parents to start a petition or have a town meeting to
start town watch. This stuff should make the town safer and cleaner. No
I wont fight any one like he did or run really fast but it would make me
feel some what like my hero.

Jeremy Tyree

My hero, Melissa McCloskey, inspires me to do great things
someday. She stood up for what she believed in and started a prayer club
in myschool, even under heavy opposition. I want to be like Melissa because
she is loving, generous, totally unselfish, and I want to be like that.
I need to stand up for what I believe in, give to others, and love
unconditionally to be like Melissa. Melissa is my best friend and
sister, and I thank God I have such a wonderful sister to look up to.

My hero, my grandfather, inspires me to do great things some day. He is a brave, smart, and caring person all in one. He also always has
inspiring things to say and never has a mean thing to say about
anyone. His language is always appropriate, and he tries to make people
happy whenever he can. Since he was a science teacher, he can tell me
things I needed to know about school. He is a big part in my education,
so when I have the decision to go or not to go to college, I will go to
college and get a degree as a veterinarian. In conclusion, I have and I
will cherish every moment I have with my grandfather and store it in my
heart.

My heroes are my parents. I chose them because of many reasons. My
mother for example, cares for me when I am sick or when I am down. For
example I am sick right now and she will wake up at four o,clock in the
morning just to give me my medicine. I chose my father as a hero also
because he always cheers me up and makes me laugh. He is very generous
in giving. Some fathers might (for example) when they serve dinner or
something will say " Eat what is served, if not to bad ". Well my
father always goes that extra mile , and makes sure that I have
something that I like on my plate. My mom usually says that he spoils
me too much, I just think that he cares. They have not really done
anything " Extra-ordinary " for the world but it's the little things
that make my parents " Heroes ". I want to be patient, loving , and
caring just like them. I will try to control my temper and not
frustrate myself as much. Well, I am glad that i have parents like
them and good roll models to look up to !!!

My hero, Carrie Fisher, the woman who was Princess Leia in Star Wars,
inspires me to do great things one day. Today with all the new hype
about the movie Star Wars I realize that Carrie Fisher paved the way for
women actors in America. She played a character that was unique to the
big screens. The role Ms. Fisher played was not of your average female
casting. She was intelligent, powerful, strong, and witty, contradictory
to most roles that women played in the 1970's. The character that she
portrayed was of a young princess in charge of the rebel space group
fighting against the Imperialists. Carrie Fisher's part took control of
her situation, like when they were escaping from prison, it was her idea
to disappear into the garbage chute. She also defended herself if
necessary, like the several times Princess Leia fought the storm
troopers. Carrie's character did not yell for help as if she were a
damsel in distress. Often her ingenuity saved several characters' lives.
Carrie played a very powerful role and stood for what she believed was
right on and off screen.
I want to be like Ms. Fisher because she changed the way many people
felt about women actors. Her role showed people that not all women have
to play parts where they faint in every scene, and the big strong men
always save the dainty women. Fisher showed through her acting that
women are just as intelligent as men and that both sexes can take
control of their situations.
In order to be more like Carrie Fisher, or her character I must stand
up for what I believe is right. i must have faith in my own beliefs and
not let other people persuade me out of my opinion.
This is why I want to be more like Princess Leia, or Carrie Fisher when
I grow up. As Carrie Fisher would say " May the force be with you!"

Katie Frampton

Rosie O' Donnell she's my hero,
She is my inspiration.
She makes people laugh,
All throughout the nation.

She's funny and
most definitely smart.
When I'm in a bad mood,
Her jokes give me a fresh start.

I want to be an actress
And a funny one at that.
I want to make people smile,
And not have to get laughed at.

Rosie taught me something,
I could not live without.
She taught me to be myself,
And not give my looks a doubt.

I learned it's not about your outsides,
But rather what's within.
And to show people what I`m really like,
And know it`s not a sin.

She's made people laugh for many years,
With movies and standup.
Now she has her own T.V. show,
And knows not to be phony and wear lots of makeup.

Now you can see
Why I admire her so much.
Her show is much better
Than Starsky and Hutch.

My, hero is my sister Kathy MCcoy, she inspires me to do great things.
My sister is a 16 year old student at Elkton high. She failed the 9 th
grade doto her atendence, but now she is in the 10th grade. For the
first semester she had to stay in the 9th grade. During that time she
was in school every day, did all the work asigned, and understood them.
She will have to go to summer school if she wants to be in the 11th
grade next year. I also admire her because she is a cool person to hang
out with. We are also alike because we listen to the same music. I'm
friends with her friend's and some of there sister's. I hope I will be
like her some day.

So Much More
Than A Friend

I know someone who is beautiful
in each and every way.
The fact that God is in her life reflects
everything she might do or say.

Jessica Joy Wilson,
my hero, sister and friend,
has given me herself to lean on,
someone on whom I can depend.

Jess has deeply influenced
the way I live my life today,
shown me that if I believe something,
to speak out is okay.

What would I do without Jess?
No man, woman, girl or boy,
could ever replace what God has given me through her;
back my spiritual joy.

Jess, I just want to thank you,
right here and right now.
I love you and you've changed me,
in ways you don't know how.

You are a treasure,
a true blessing from Him.
Thanks for standing by me,
and eternity we'll spend together because of Him.

By Melissa McCloskey, Cherry Hill Middle: Grade 7

Dedicated to Jess Wilson:
I don't know how to
thank you, so I let God
take over; and here's
what I got.

My hero is my mother, she insperies me to do great things
someday. My mother has been a great mother. She has been raising
children from when she was 19. She's very understanding. She
makes sure all of her childeren are well feed, well dressed, and
in good health. She won't let anyone get in trouble at school. She
had great grades when she was young. I want to be like her because
of her personality. She works well with others, and my mother had
lots of friends. She is very nice. But if I want to be like her I must
have her actions and achieve all her goals in life. But if I don't have
her personalaty, then I can have her looks. I'll always be like her in
someway.

My hero is God; He inspires me to do great things someday. He is a
great friend and has done great things for me. God has been there when
ever I needed him through the years. he has always been there to talk to
when ever things are rough. He has made me very happy. I don't want to
be like God, because God is perfect. I could never be as perfect as God.
When I grow up, I want to tell others about God and what he has done for
me. As you can see, he is a great friend. I have never met anyone else
like him.

My hero , Trooper First Class Joseph T. Lanzi Sr. of the
Maryland State Police , inspires me to do great things for
people someday . As a child he dreamed of only serving and
helping those who cried out for help . As an adult he lived
that dream serving and helping people as a Baltimore City
Officer , a Newark Officer , and most recently as a Maryland
State Trooper . At the age of 37 , he died living his dream
. He was heroically rushing to someone in the danger of
losing their life . I will try to be like my father because
he helped a lot of people through some really hard times .
He was a loving father , husband , brother , and a friend to
many people . I will have to accomplish a lot to be like my
father . I will have to try to be more forgiving , patient ,
and have to learn how to set goals for myself to achieve
and move on to better things in life. My father wasn't just
a hero to me . He was a hero to everyone in the little
town of Elkton , Maryland . He set a goal for all of us to
strive for , and only our hearts will know when we reach
our goal .

The person I have chosen for my hero , is my father. My
dad acts like
he is three years sometimes, ( usually the right time), but then he can
be serious, especially when you talk to him about your troubles. The
reason I wanted to write this about him was because he is always there
for me; yet when you want to be left alone he knows when to do that,
too. My dad works hard so that we can have the bestlife he can give us.
He makes a big deal out of all the little things I do, good or bad. My
father keeps me in lineeven when I don't think he is right, ( often
enough later I found out he was correct). My dad is the kind of person
many people think is strange, but then you find out he is just special.
To be like My dad I would have to work hard on not trying to blend in
with the crowd. Also, I would have to improve my self image. For
instance I think that I am ugly and that everyone is better than me, but
my dad thinks that he is good just the way God made him. I am proud of
his accomplishments. My dad deserves this , and I feel that this will
tell you a little bit about the man I think is a hero.

- Sarah Palmer

My hero isn't famous like other's may be,
but she is already famous to me.

She's taught me some of what I know,
she's cheered me up when I was low.

My hero is my teacher, that is plain to see.
Whenever I needed her, she shows up beside me.

My hero is also my friend,
whatever I need she will surely lend.

She's contributed to my education,
and did it all with kindness and patience.

Mrs. Sindorf- you know it's true,
my hero is really you.

At this school,
you teach the golden rule.

I know that I'll have to go to college,
there I will extend my knowledge.

You've inspired me through it all,
and although I'm small,

I want to be like you someday
in each and every way.

*Dedicated to Mrs. Julianne Sindorf

A small animal ,
Timid , scared , and afraid ,
Has inspired me to do great things .

Piglet is wonderful ,
Charming and friendly,
Fun and amazing ,
Even though he is
afraid , scared , and small ,
He is a perfect example of who we are ,
In our world .

All I have to do ,
To be like him,
Is to be a good friend ,
To people when they are ,
Afraid , scared ,and ,
Feeling small .

I hope with all my heart ,
That people can see ,
The many ways ,
Piglets inspired me .

My Hero is my aunt Mary. When she died I was really sad. I want
to be like her someday. It seems hard to realize she will be gone
forever. I want to be like her because she was really nice. She was a
good friend and a good aunt. She worked really hard on what she did.
When ever you needed someone there she was there. You always had a
shoulder to lean on. I still can feel her hands on a cold winters night.
I have to work really hard to be like her. She dedicated on for filling
her dreams, even helped people accomplish theirs.

Stephanie Newill

My hero, Janice White ,(my mother) inspires me to do great things
someday. My Mom is a hero to me. My Mom is a independent women and is a
good role model to all. She teaches me many different things like how to
love, and not to hate, how to be respectful to people no matter the age
or what the case may be.I could be like my mom by helping others and
teaching people what she taught me. I can also be like my mom by being
independent and not depending on anyone to do anything for me. My mom is
independent by doing stuff on her own, she struggles to be
independent.Thats why my mother is a true hero to me.

TANAY WHITE

My hero, Susan B. Anthony, inspires me to stand up for woman's rights
today and in the future. She stood up to the men who would not let
women have the right to vote. Since she was so brave when I am eighteen
I will have the right to vote. I want to be like her because some
women today are still not being treated as equals or being taken
seriously. I can help by standing up for women's rights and what I
believe in, the way she did. Susan B. Anthony was one of the bravest
women of her time and ours. I would like to stand up for women one day,
just like Susan B. Anthony did in 1848.
