Terry's Homeschool

Lund, British Columbia, Canada

Hello. I'm a 10 year old boy who homeschools in Lund, British Columbia, Canada and my name is Robin. I don't know of any ancestors in the United States. My mom's side comes from Canada (Ontario & Quebec), Scotland, and France. My dad's side comes from Germany/Austria/Poland, Denmark, and England. Can anybody help me do research in any of those places?

Robin

Hi. Thanks for all the help. I've got several ancestral stories. A few people asked since my name was Beer if it was a Dutch name. Well, it's not. You see, when my great-grandfather was coming from Germany or Poland his name was Baer and the crossing guard wrote down his name wrong as Beer.

He was told that it would be too much of a hassle to change the official papers so he would just have to live with it.

Here are the details about my lines, and where we're stuck. My mom's going to help me type this all in, cause there's lots!

1. GERMANY/POLAND

All these people come from close to the German/Polish border, and we don't know which side or what town.

My great-grandfather that I mentioned before:

Gustav Adolf Baer

b. March 14, 1888

m. Emilie Rudolf on Sept 10, 1932 in Winnipeg, MB, Canada

his father was Karl Baer and his mother was Caroline Dreichel

My great-grandmother, his wife

Emilie Rudolf

b.May 5, 1896

her father was Heinrich Rudolf and her mother was Louise Hauser

2.GERMANY/DENMARK

These people come from the German/Denmark border area.

My great-grandfather:

Johann Carsten Angel (known in Canada as John Carson Angel) b Apr.5,1895 in Flensburg, Germany (but his family lived in Hoya, Denmark) d Jan 1959 in Winnipeg, MB, Canada

m. Daisy Agusta Harrison on Nov.6,1926 in Winnipeg

his father was Hans Richsten Angel and his mother was Ingeborg Marie Carstensen

3. ENGLAND

His wife, my great-grandmother:

Daisy Agusta Harrison

b Apr.10, 1902 in Cambridgeshire, England d 1969 or 1970 in Winnipeg, MB, Canada

her father was Francis Harrison and her mother was Pricilla Thompson

4.FRANCE

My 6th great-grandfather:

Jean Baptiste Foubert

b 1722 on the outskirts of Paris

m Genevieve Desrochers on Nov.8, 1753 in Lac des Deux Montagnes, New France (today it's just outside of Montreal, Quebec, Canada

This story about him has been passed down for many generations so we're not sure if it's the same as it was a long time ago. He didn't like this other guy so they decided to have a duel. In the duel they were going to walk but Jean just turned around and shot him in the back. So they exiled him to New France.

5.CANADA

My great-great-grandmother was

(Mary) Ellen Lajeunesse

b Oct.3, 1861 in Cornwall Township, Ontario d Nov 28, 1909 in Gladstone Township, Ontario m John Fobert on Nov 4, 1878 in Vankleek Hill, Ontario

She was born from an unwed mother and was adopted by Francis Xavier and Josephine Lajeunesse. Her mother was Jane McLaughlin, born in Vanleek Hill, Ontario. Ellen's death certificate lists Xavier Leskenis, from Quebec, as her father, but my mom thinks this is too close to her adopted father's name and probably isn't true.

My great-great grandfather was:

William John Wesley Brown

b June 14, 1867

d Dec 28, 1913 in Cornwall, Ontario

m (Mary) Ellen or Helen Fraiser on Nov 10, 1886 in Cornwall, Ontario

His father was Charles Edward Brown (d. Sept 21,1908), who's supposed to have been a Baptist minister, and HIS father was John Charles Brown, who's supposed to have been a judge in Trois Rivieres, Quebec.

His mother was Margaret E. McDonald (d. Sept 16,1909)

His wife, my great-great-grandmother was:

(Mary) Ellen or Helen Fraiser

b Jan 27, 1868 in Lancaster, Ontario

d Apr 7, 1900 in Cornwall, Ontario

My great-great-grandfather was:

Richard Lewis Wilkinson

b 1871 in Markham, Ontario

d Jan 1939 in Toronto, Ontario

m Antionetta E. A. Brown on Feb 15,1893 in Toronto

his father was Hosea G. Wilkinson, b. around 1827, and his mother was named Rebecca

His wife, my great-great-grandmother was:

Antionetta E. A. Brown

b 1870 in Montreal, Quebec

d around 1912 in Toronto

her father was George Brown and her mother was named Antionetta

And if anyone has information on tombstones in Ontario, my great-great-grandfather William Campbell died Aug 4, 1927 and is buried in the Toronto Cemetary (I think it might be called Prospect Cemetary now) with his wife Agnes Wilson Campbell. We need to check his birth date to make sure he's the same William Campbell we've found in Scotland.

6.SCOTLAND

My great-great-grandfather was:

William Campbell

b Feb 4, 1864 in Dumbarton, Scotland

d Aug 4, 1927 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada m Agnes Wilson Hill

his father was William Campbell and his mother was Jane or Jean Sinclair

His wife, my great-great-grannie was:

Agnes Wilson Hill

b June 24, 1864 in Scotland

d Sept 17, 1957 in Toronto, Ontario

Her father was Joseph Hill and her mother was Sarah Hill (it looks like they both really had the same last name even before they were married, and there's a story that they might have been first cousins.)

William Campbell was a shipbuilder, actually an Iron Ship Plater, Journeyman, and their first child, my great grandmother Jane Campbell was born Aug 19, 1890 in Barrow-In Furness in the north of England. Her birth certificate says they lived at 11c Devonshire Buildings, Barrow.

And that's it so far!!!
