Melanie Sturgeon

Hello,

My name is Melanie Sturgeon, I am the Assistant State Archivist for the State of Arizona. I have done family history research for years and also am finishing my PhD in History. A number of the researchers who use the Archives are family history and genealogy researchers who come to use the county and state records we have here (in addition to private collections).

I am excited to participate in this project--I love to work with students, to get them excited about the past and what better way to do it than for them to realize that their ancestors participated in a number of the things that students tend to think of as "Old Stuff."

I also have children and have even gotten a few of them "hooked" on family history.

I am a native born Australian and have researched my ancestors there back to the very first convict ship into Botony Bay in 1788.

I also am very familiar with research in Arizona, where to look for records for Mexican-Americans, and do research in Tennessee, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio and Scotland.

I am really looking forward to this.

Cheers!

Melanie
