Kay Bolls
Hello, everyone!
My name is Kay Bolls. I live in Florida and have been doing genealogy research since 1990, when my aunt gave me an ancestor chart I couldn't understand. It didn't take long to learn to read and understand the charts and to see just how much fun you can have by looking for your greatgrand- parents. When I first went to the Family History Center, I presented the names SMITH and BROWN. Everyone had a big laugh
<grin> However, one nice lady told me that if I have been living right, my ancestors might be Quaker. She showed me where to find the Quaker lists and left me on my own. What a shock when I took the copies of the IGI files home and started backtracking! I found that some of my ancestors came over from England aboard the ship "Welcome" with William Penn. Others were in the Philadelphia government when it was first started.
These were my ancestors...the girl from the midwest. Want to know something funny...I lived just a couple hours from Philadelphia for over 25 years and had no idea my roots were started in and around the MD/DE/PA area.
I'm looking forward to helping any of you whatever way possible. I'm not an expert, but research is something I really enjoy. I also try to write a 'biosketch" (story) about whatever family members I find. I compile a family newsletter for 22 members of my family. Recently, I acquired photos of my 4thgreatgrandparents and plan to use them in the upcoming issue of my newsletter, FAMILY BRIDGES.
A lot of my searching is using the computer. I have bronchial/asthma and have to stay away from places without good air flow and who use lots of chemicals. I do go into the library at Orlando...and no, I haven't seen Mickey and Minnie in there researching yet. Since I'm home most of the time, I will be very happy to help any of you whenever possible.
Good luck on your new venture...you're going to really enjoy it!
