My name is Betty Lou Riley. I am an adult volunteer for the KIDLINK Genealogy Project and I live in Portsmouth, OH.
I volunteer for lookups at USGENWEB, for Adams Co. and Scioto Co.,OH. I love working with our young nieces, on learning the computer and with Genealogy. My Grandmother was a teacher in a one room schoolhouse, in rural OH. She is the one who started the genealogy research, by writing down all she knew and writing to family members. I am so glad to have her handwritten notes and letters. She would be amazed at our computer researching and e-mail.
My husband is one of thirteen children and there are 60+ immediate family members, in 5 generations. As you can guess, Genealogy can be a real challenge, when we add in, the families of the spouses. (-; Needless to say, "We do kids".
Our son is in Grad. School and he does major research on the web, for his thesis and for the professors he works for. I can refer to him, if I have trouble finding something on the web. This is the way the next generation children will communicate and learn.
The students can also check my Web site, for my family trees. I am mostly decended from the British Isles.
