Bill Kerr

Hello everyone

Not sure what you need or want to know. My name is Bill Kerr and I

live in south central Pennsylvania on a small farm. My wife and I

are retired and we bought this place five years ago. We don't farm

it we just enjoy the woods and fields. I got a chance to retire at

age 52 and took advantage of it.

Some of the names I do genealogy on are Kerr, McElroy, Heath, Gill,

Lechler, McVey or McBey, Harrington. There are a few more Irish

names on the list. As far as I know all the family are Irish except

for the Lechler's who I believe were from Germany. The first four

names are those of my grandparents. The Kerr, Mcelroy and Gill lines

came to this country around 1860. I have little information on

the Heath's after 30 years of looking.

I am just beginning to gather information on my first wife's family

and my two oldest boys wive's families. They are Jewish and from

Poland and Russia. Some came to the US directly while others came

via Israel. My two boys were raised in Israel from 1967 to around

1990. One lives in California while the other lives in Thailand.

My other two children live in New Jersey.

I was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and most of my

research involves Philadelphia because the families either landed

there or at sometime passed through. The Heath's came from Maryland,

to Philadelphia via Camden, New Jersey. Anne and I lived in New

Jersey for about 40 years before coming here to Frog Haven Farm.

Anne does work on her lines. They go back to colonial times in New

Jersey. Some names include Lindsey, Stone and Orr. Mostly English

and Scotish. She spent one day this summer in Edinburgh doing

genealogy on the Lindsey line that came from Largs, Scotland.

If anyone has any questions or needs my help, I'm here at

frog@bedford.net.

I'm also available as a class "grandfather" by email if anyone needs

one. I have seven grandchildren but they're all over the world and I

don't see them as often as I like. We travel a bit so I could

discuss that and I have my own library here in the house of over 3000

books. We read a lot. Do all kinds of crafts and have a vegetable

garden. Anyway let me know what you need.

There is a web page but it's only a beginning. Not much in the way

of genealogy at the moment.
