Salut! The grade 5-6 class at Jeanne Sauve French Immersion School will be describing a small wooded area that separates the north side of the primary schoolyard from the adjacent mall. The wooded area is the home of poplar trees and wild flowers. The fall and spring puddles have sometimes been the resting place of migratory ducks and the birthplace of local frogs. Unfortunately, this small area has often been polluted by careless passers-by. The school's Environment Club, designated pupils on Earth Day and Madame Pelton's grade one class took turns cleaning the wooded area last year. Here are the nouns, adjectives, verbs, and adverbs that pupils used in their individual essays. ** Nouns ** sky, clouds, heat, honey, wind, breeze grass, clover, blades, weeds, moss, Queen Anne's Lace, goldenrods, buttercups, nectar hill, ground, woods, forest, trunk, branches, bark, log, sticks, twigs, holes, path crickets, bug, ants, praying mantises, bees, gulls, sparrow, butterflies mattress, smoke, train, boats, factories, ocean, shore, ceiling, smudges giants, paradise, maze, imagination, fear, adventure, doorway, garden, carpet, meadow lawn mower, fingers, hand, foot ** Adjectives ** boiling, parched, cool, shady tiny, miniature, tall, deep, spreading, flat, round, thin, pointy, squished, straight, fallen rough, bumpy, crumpled, prickly, fuzzy, cotton-ball (clouds), fluffy, crisp howling, noisy, sugar, secret, magical, dead, stormy, embroidered, striped, blue/ electric blue/ clear blue, black, yellow, golden, purple, white, pink, orange, apple-juice (coloured), brown, chocolate, grey ** Verbs** crackle, crunch, chirp, rustle, buzz, twitter, whistle, sing crawl, sway, flow, hover, sail, fall, blow, step, jump, turn, sit, sip, rock, dance, meet, bump. brush, tickle, pinch, lean, lace, stretch, surround, hide swoop, circle, dive, caw, fly, soar smell, talk, howl, paint, burst, break, inspect, search ** Adverbs** loudly, softly, busily, steadily, nosily
