Hello, from Maple Ridge Elem School in Maple Ridge Township, Alpena County
Michigan. Alpena is located on the shore of Lake Huron at the 45th
parallel. Maple Ridge is a rural area along the Thunder bay River that
flows to  the lake.

Maple Ridge is a small school of 168 students from k-6th. It is located on
40 acres which also contain our pond area and nature trail. The woods that
surround the school are filled with animals. Deer, bear, turkeys, fox,
coyotes and many other animals cross our playground and drink at our pond.

Our day starts at 9:05 and ends at 3:50. All of the students ride a bus to
school. In our 5th grade classroom we have 1 computer that is connected to
the internet. This allows us to do several projects with schools around the
world.

Maple Ridge is very beautiful this time of the year with bright Fall colors
everywhere. Winter is not far away. Winter is long and hard in here. Last
year we had over 200 inches of snow and temperatures that go to -38 degrees
F last winter.

We enjoy getting e-mail and like reading about other schools involved in
TOE. If anyone in the world would like a key-pal send us a letter we will
