LETTER OF INTRODUCTION
Tefft Middle School, Streamwood, Illinois, USA

We’re from core B at Tefft Middle School. We have about 100 students in
our core. A core is a group of students that have the same four
teachers, with a few exceptions. In Tefft Middle School we have to wear
ID cards. It’s an identification card of ourselves. There are about 675
7th and 8th grade students in the school. We have a library with a
computerized card catalog. That is a computer that helps you find a book
that you want. On our field we have many geese, rabbits, and ducks and
sometimes if your lucky you can see a deer. After school we have sports.
Right now we have a volleyball team and a football team. Pretty soon we
will have a basketball team. Our teams compete with many other schools.
Our mascot is the Trojan warrior, and our school colors are purple and
white. School starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:13 p.m. We live about 40
miles away from the city of Chicago. Chicago is one of the largest
cities in the world. In Chicago we have a famous tower called the Sears
Tower. The United Center is where the Bulls (a basketball team) play. We
have a lot of shopping malls and restaurants.
We have lots of entertainment centers like roller rinks and movie
theaters. We like to listen to the radio. The kind of music we like is
rap, hip hop, R&B, and some like alternative, and heavy metal. Our age
range here is 12- - 15. We have a student council. They plan dances and
skating parties. We have many different nationalities here, a couple of
them are Spanish, Italian, Irish, German and many more. We have spirit
week. That is a week when the whole school does funky things. Sometimes
we wear pajamas to school, you find someone to dress alike with, wear
our clothes backwards, and wear our school colors(purple & white). In
our school district we have many other elementary schools that grades
are k-6. We have seven middle schools that are grades 7-8. We have 4
high schools that are grades 9-12. In the Streamwood area, we have a lot
of festivals including the Harvest Fest and the Chili Fest. We have a
public library called Poplar Creek. Around here we have many forest
preserves, parks, and lakes. At our school we have a program called
Natural Helpers. That is where students are picked by other students’
votes and the students picked help other students who have a problem.
All of us are really excited about the Toe project and we hope to hear
from you soon.

Sincerely,
CoreB students at Tefft
