Cave Point
Gibraltar Area Schools, Fish Creek, Wisconsin, USA
Set in majestic Door County, Wisconsin, Cave Point is among the
most mysterious and peaceful areas in our community. Adjacent to
Whitefish Dunes State Park along Lake Michigan's shore line, it has
bountiful cedar and birch forests and breathtaking limestone cliffs. It is
truly a hidden landmark of Door County. The meandering deer paths
throughout the park get much use from the many tourists who come to share
the magic of Cave Point. Cave Point's mysterious air may come from local
legends that Cave Point is a gateway to hidden caves underneath the Door
County peninsula, or perhaps it comes from the lush cedar forest that has
struggled for hundreds of years to survive the harsh winds and waters of
Lake Michigan.
Cave Point is a place where we all love to go. Daredevils test
their courage by jumping into the crashing waves below. Others just go to
see the sun rise over a watery horizen. Some go to watch the waves explode
against the cliff walls creating an impressionistic painting with a
menagerie of colors. Cave Point is a place where we sit and talk,
unburdening our souls. It is a special place that helps give Door County
its identity. Mr. Ahlen's Sophomore Class
