A Lovely Day in Our Nature
Graniten, Gribby gard, Täby, Sweden
Near our school there
is a little lake. It´s
Rönningesjön.
When walking from
our school to the
lake you pass the
meadow.
It´s a big meadow
with playgrounds
and wellcut grass.
In the edge of the
meadow a little
stream runs and
by the stream you
can sit down on a bench, looking at the flowers who grow there.
It was an unusally beautiful day in October. The leaves had turned in
many colours: red, green, yellow, brown and orange. It was so chilly
in the air that the lake was frozen. But the ice was very thin.
The most remarkable, however, was that in two or three weeks all the
leaves should have gone, and we should be in November, when the weather
was gray, rainy and foggy. We passed many things, for example the hollow
tree.
Reaching the lake, we went out on a small bridge laying down and
touching the thin and cold ice. Imagine!! Only one night and the lake was
frozen and still it was JUST October. Some children threw pieces of ice
and the pieces flew away and there was a sound like ffjjoonnnngg.
The ice glittered as crystal. Johnnie and Dennis tested walking on the ice,
but it cracked and Dennis fell into the lake and got wet.
Other children threw big pieces of the ice and the pieces broke in
thousands. What a sound they made!
Opposite the lake is Rönninge by. It´s an old farm with cows, cats, sheep,
horses, rabbits and even a couple of ostriches, though an ostrich isn´t
special Swedish.
Anyone may go to Rönninge by. (Swedish word for a small village). You
can celebrate Midsummer there. On weekends you can go there having
waffels with cream and jam. Yum!Yum! We stayed at Rönnige by, eating
our MATSÄCK (typical Swedish word for sandwiches and something to drink).
We went into a cottage and had hot dogs. There was a fire in a fireplace.
It was cosy to be there. Some children were sitting on a bridge having
their MATSÄCK. It was nice being there and look over the lake glittering
in the sun.
Then we went on through the forest and came to Skavlöten. It´s a
sportscenter with various joggingtracks. There is even a beach and a
bridge. But we kept walking and didn´t care of the activities. It´s a
beautiful forest and a little bit mysterious and magic. The path was muddy.
The sunlight filtered throw the trees. Somewhere we could hear a bird
singing. Soon the winter will be here and you can´t hear this wonderful
song anymore.
We went further. The moss was wet and we sank down in it for each step we
took. It was lovely. We had been out a whole day. Back to school we felt
tired but happy.
