PreWriting

Today our Grade 5 class visited a grain farm just outside our city. The harvest is well underway in our area. Wheat fields stretch out as far as the eye can see. Our part of the province has a very large agricultural base. We toured the farmyard. Besides grain, the farm also had some animals. We saw a baby goat, rams and of course, dogs and baby kittens. The farmers combine had broken down that day, and he was busily repairing it. Next, we went out to the fields. We walked out through the wheat, smelling it, feeling it and even tasting it! The farmer then arrived with his combine. It was very nice of him to take a few minutes out of his day to show us his machinery and to explain a little about his work. We recorded all the sights and sounds of the farm, and now we are working on our essays. We are anxiously waiting to hear from the rest of the schools in the Through Our Eyes project. Here we are on a trip to the grain farm! Grade 5 Room 11 St. Dominic Savio School Weyburn SK, Canada
