Salut!

The grade 5-6 class at Jeanne Sauve French Immersion School will be
describing a small wooded area that separates the north side of the primary
schoolyard from the adjacent mall. The wooded area is the home of poplar
trees and wild flowers. The fall and spring puddles have sometimes been
the resting place of migratory ducks and the birth place of local frogs.
Our class has a particular attachment to this area. This small natural
area has been cleaned up by the members of the school's Environment Club, by
designated pupils on Earth Day and by the grade five Earth Keepers. In
grade two, this area formed the basis of an environmental unit of study.
The former teacher-librarian Madame Kelly was instrumental in encouraging
the pupils and their teachers, Madame Howerow and Monsieur Robert, to
study and to appreciate nature at your doorstep.
