PreWriting

We have discussed the project and together, we have decided to write to you from Peace Mound Park. This is a park in Weston that was originally settled by the Tequesta Indians. There are many authentic replicas of things that are on display at the park. There have been findings also made there that date back to the Tequesta Indians. This is the furthest inland that there have been traces that the Tequestas lived here. Pre -Writing activities for Through Our Eyes After a field trip to Peach Mound Park, which is about a mile from our school, the 4th grade gifted students wrote down the following pre-writing ideas: - you can see the Indians doing their dance around the fire -telling legends -different clothes -many lush plants -beautiful birds, crystal blue lake -play games, rollerblade, walk on paths -chickee for the Indians to live in _footbridge to fish off of >_pretty flowers >-playground >_nice place to visit >-Tequesta Indians - burial site, artifacts >_edge of Everlades, in our hometown
