Letter of Introduction
Hello! Bonjour! This is class 7B from Geneva, Switzerland! Our class has 19
students (pretty small) and only nine are boys. Our school is international which
means that we have people from all over the world. In our class, most of the people are
American. (9 people). We are also Norwegian, British, Swiss, Canadian, Spanish, Philippino, African, Indian, Japanese-American and Korean. Most of us are 11 and 12 years old.
Les Cedres ("The Cedars", in English) Middle School has grades 5-8 and a
total of 450 students. We are one of three campuses which are the Foundation of the
International School ofGeneva. We are right downtown Geneva. We are only 15 minutes from Lake Geneva.
Geneva, Switzerland is French speaking. It is an international city
because the UnitedNations and many other international organizations and businesses are here. (Red Cross, CERN- European Nuclear Research Centre, Digital etc...) The World Wide Web was created at CERN in Geneva. Living in Geneva is very expensive. For example, going to the movies is 15 Swiss francs to 11.50 Swiss francs (14.00 to 10.00 USD). (We don't like that part of living in Geneva.) The closest border is the French border and many of us live and shop there.
Switzerland is very famous for chocolate, watches and cheese. If you come
visit, you can go skiing in the French Alps at Mt. Blanc or in the Swiss Alps at St.
Moritz, Verbier and Zermatt. The temperature when it is fall or winter is about 5_ C and it is terribly cloudy. In the summer it is sunny and 17_C. (35_C. Maximum.)
Well, we are excited to hear more about you. What more would you like to
know about us?
