Letter of Introduction

Greetings From Meeker Middle School! We are 8th grade students from Meeker Middle School. We live in Tacoma, Washington which is 30 miles south of Seattle. Tacoma is on Puget Sound which is 85 miles east of the Pacfic Ocean We are also about 65 miles West of Mount Rainier. We are on Browns Point overlooking downtown Tacoma where you can see the Tacoma Dome, and the Port of Tacoma. Some people can see the Space Needle in Seattle from their houses. Matt, Marc, Spencer, Russ Community In Tacoma there are lots of different landmarks. One is the lighthouse on Browns Pt. It used to direct ships but now it is just there. Also, there is the Tacoma Dome. There is lots of concerts there. It is the biggest wooden dome structure in the U.S.A.. Mt. Rainier is one of the biggest mountains in the United States. Then there is the Space Needle in Seattle. The Space Needle is a tourist attraction. It has a restaurant and above that there is an observatory deck where you can go outside and look on people below you. Matt Diamond, Andrew Hosford The Ups and Downs of Washington One of the ups is the places called The Space Needle. The neat parts about it is the food and the view. The view is of down town Seattle, the piers, Pikes Place Market, and in some places Tacoma. Speaking of Pikes Place, that's another up of Washington. Another up is that our sports teams are the best in the west. The Sonics made it all the way to the finals. Last year the Mariners made it to the finals. Well that's about it for the ups. One of the downs is traffic. It is so bad. Another down is that there is not very many ethnic groups. One other down is that the Sonics lost to the Bulls this year and the Mariners were bad this year too. Another down is the weather. It rains all the time. The last down is that there not much to do. Well that's about it. Ryan Harnish, Jack Walker, Jarrell Phifer School Meeker is located in Tacoma near Browns Point Boulevard. We can see Mt. Rainier from our school. At Meeker we play baseball, basketball, volleyball, flag football, golf, and soccer. And we are the best at all of them. Our basketball team was undefeatable last year. We have other activities like cooking and Knowledge Master Open. Meeker students are the smartest in all of Tacoma. The best subjects are band, computers and foreign language. The worst is probally Math. At Meeker we have New Zealand exchange students from Invercargill, New Zealand. They will be here to the tenth of October. In the spring students from Meeker go to Invercargill for three to four weeks. Stephen Gorham, Alec Morrison, Bill Pedler, Bill McDonald Near Our School We live in Tacoma, WA in the northeastern part. We live 30 miles south of the Space Needle, in Seattle Washington. There are good places to go like the light house, beaches, and the Norpoint Centre. The Centre is a place where kids can hang out, play sports, swim, and exercise. The Light House is no longer in use but there is a beautiful park and beach, and every year they have a Salmon Bake. We also have Dash Point State Park that has a camping ground and beach. North Shore Golf Course is right down the street from our school. It has a beautiful restaurant and course. Right now around our school they are building new townhouses.
