Our Pond Through The Seasons

Spring
The nature trail at Maple Ridge School is soggy as we amble along in the spring. As it gets warmer out the buds on the trees are ready to blossom. The way the rain effects the trees and plants is beautiful. As you walk curious eyes watch you from every angle of the woods. The nature trail is not silent, frogs and crickets can be heard singing. We are very thankful for our pond and nature trail in the spring.
Summer
In summer the woods are green in the nature area. Animals like frogs, deer and birds can be seen among the trees. We spend sunny days on adventures, looking for spiders, ladybugs, bees and other wildlife. On the humid summer evenings the crickets always chirp on the pond.
Fall
The fall leaves are radiant and colorful. The pond is calm and peaceful. The murky water has a majestic look to it. All the fresh air makes us feel carefree. We see lively colors wherever we look. The leaves can be heard rustling in the nippy air and falling to the cold ground. Trees become bare because the wind is stealing their leaves.
Winter
The pond at winter time is icy and cold. We can go ice skating on it. It is very quiet because many of the animals are in hibernation. Wind swirls around us and makes us shiver. The trees are covered with snow. Later in the winter the ice starts to melt, and the pond is wet and slushy.
