KIDPROJ Coventry

My City

by: Class 16, Manor Park Primary School

Coventry, England

In Coventry we have a new and an old Cathedral. We built the new Cathedral because the old one was burnt down in the second world war. When some people were clearing up the old cathedral after the fire they found a cross made out of the fallen timbers They tied it together and now it is in the Visitors' Centre of the new Cathedral. We went to the Cathedral in the Autumn Term. The first time we went we saw everything, but then we went up the tower. You really could see everything. All I could think about was if the Tower fell down. We were going back down I was thinking about a Hlter Skelter. We had lots of fun in the New cathedral and then we went back.

While some of our year six pupils went on a residential trip to Wales, the rest of us took part in an activity week. On the Thursday we went to Coventry's Racquet Centre and we played Badminton and Tennis.

The swimming baths in the city are very big. We use them each term to learn how to swim. Although we all enjoy swimming, sometimes the water is cold.

Coventry's football team are in the top league of England. There are 20 teams in the league and at the moment Coventry are 17th. They have some good players and their manager is Ron Atkinson. The football ground is on Highfield Rd.

In Coventry we play lots of different computer games like Earthworm Jim, Sonic the Hedgehog, Donkey Kong Country and lots more. We also like going to the cinema to watch movies.

One of our favourite places is the Herbert Art Gallery because it has a section about Lady Godiva which is very interesting. In the exhibition it has lots of things to do like playing on a ball machine and putting a clock together. On the way out of the exhibition there is a book that you can write in to say how good you think it was.
