Virtual Eritrea

September 15, 1997 Report

This is our first report sent by satellite telephone.

We have rented a Nera Worldphone and connected it with our laptop computer.

The technique is quite slow (2.4 Kbps) and expensive compared to an ordinary Internet connection. But we hope it will work as we've been told.

If you can read this then it's working.

WE will try send a picture too, which you can see on the Kidlink www-page: http://www.kidlink.org/KIDPROJ/Eritrea

You can also view more pictures and read more about us and Eritrea on our school page: http://www.sc4hool.alingsas.se/nolhaga/eritrea.htm

We are now busy with packing lists and planning. As we are going to be on the move a lot we have to carry everything with us (in backpacks) all the time. Therefore we will try to limit our luggage as much as possible. It's warm there and cheap to get clothes washed so we don't need to take so much.

A message to our friends in Capetown, South Africa:

Thank you for all your questions !

We will try to find answers during the journey and send them with our reports or to the KIDPROJ-list.
