A Collaborative (free verse)
Electronic Poem
OBJECTIVES:
SUMMARY:
The students at Rock Falls Middle Schoolare writing a
collaborative poem in honor of Martin Luther King's birthday, titled "I
Have a Dream." We would like to have studentsfrom all over the world join
us by adding one short free verse stanza (4-10lines) to the poem.
DURATION: December 16-January 17, 1997
PROCEDURE:
We will be using Dr. King's "I Have a Dream Speech"
(located at:http://www.mecca.org/~crights/dream.html)
as an inspiration to write the free verse poem. The poems contributed will
bedisplayed in our school through out the month of January, and hopefullyon our
school's homepage.
Please send a verse of 4-10 lines that you create.The first line of the poem should be entitled "I Have a Dream."Please include some background information like possibly your first name only,geographic location and possibly your school's name. If your native languageis not English, please feel free to contribute your verse in your native tongue, and then translate into English beneath it. We would loveto see it!
EXAMPLE:
I HAVE A DREAM:
That there will be peace on
earth.
That families and communities will learn to getalong with each other.
That people around the world will have food and shelter.
That dreams can
become realities.
That domestic violence will come to an end.
