AUTHOR: Sheila Lavelle
TITLE: My Best Fiend
ISBN:0140 371826

This book is VERY, VERY FUNNY!
A very interesting part was when Charlie's mum and Aunt Sally were talking about
funny things and Charlie burst out laughing. Her mum said she
shouldn't have been listening. It's true how parents never like you
to listen to interesting parts of their conversations, but they never
mind if you listen to the boring bits !! My favourite part was when
Angela sets fire to Charlie's dad's garage! In this story the
characters say very funny things! The story takes place mainly at
Charlie's house which is great because she has strange parents and
weird pets!   I definitely want read more books by Shiela Lavelle and
I really recommend this book to you. I guarantee you that you will
want to read it over and over again!!!

Author: Lois Lowry
Title: Number the stars
ISBN: 0-440-40327-8

I chose this book because a friend recommended it.
This book is interesting ,it's about a ten year old girl called Annemarie and her best
 friend Ellen.
Annemaries little sister Kirsty is only five and does not understand why there has to
be war and why Ellen (she's Jewish)has to suddenly come and stay
with them. My favourite part is at the end when Annemarie's mother
and father tell her how her older sister Lise died trying to protect
the Jews (Annemarie always thought her sister was run over.)
Annemarie's little sister, Kirsty, changes quite a bit, she now
understands about war and is much more grown-up. The story takes
place in Denmark. The book is easy to read and is very interesting.
This is an excellent book and I recommend it to anyone any age.

AUTHOR: Judy Blume

This book is about a girl named Margaret and she has to move from New York,
to Farbrook New Jersey.
She talks to God, all the time, because she doesn't want to talk to any one else
 about her problems,
about friends, boys , parents and about growing -up.  She meets a girl called Nancy.
 Nancy invites
Margaret to a club with two other girls.   They have rules for their club and have lots
 of fun together .

I would recommend this book to a friend because lots of my friends like what I like.
I read this book because the teacher gave it to the class to read,
but before she gave it to me one of my friends recommended it to me.

Anastasia On Her Own
0006728715

I chose this book because I think it is funny, cute and strange.
Anastasia's mum always forgets to take food out of the freezer so
their family shares all the housework, even the men in the family.
Anastasia's brother and father get chickenpox when her mother is
away. Anastasia has to clean the house, look after her other and
prepare for a romantic evening for her father and his old girlfriend
(a snob). I like Anastasia as a girl because she is sensible.
Anastasia's brother is 3 and he is very cute. Anastasia' s father is
worried about the dinner because he doesn't want t Annie (his old
girlfriend) to do anything silly.

I really enjoyed reading this book.

Joan Aiken
The jewel seed
ISBN o-240-68133-0

THE JEWEL SEED

I chose this book because I have read some other books by the same author
(Joan Aiken) and have found them very exciting and magical and
because of the title which sounds very enticing.  In this story
Nonnie's sister disappears and there is a strange lady who seems to
be following them.  Joan Aiken has a wonderful way with words and uses
then expressively so you can have a clear image in your head of the
book is explaining.  This book is rather easy and the action moves
along quickly.  This book has a wonderful story that it wants to
share with you.  I would like to read more of Joan Aiken's books and
would recommend this book to all my friends.

Robert Swindells
Jacqueline Hyde
Isbn 0 - 440 - 86329 - 5

I choose Jaqueline Hyde because firstly I love scary books and secondly
I love the books that are written by the author Robert Swindells.

Jacqueline Hyde was a very clever, kind and a very good little girl until, that is,
she finds a bottle of poison in her gran's attic. After that she
turns into Jacqueline Bad!

The story carries on into terrifying nightmares and horrifying things that she does.

The characters are very believable in this story and they change quite a lot during
this story (because of the bottle.)

This book was quite easy to read to read (probably my age group) but I would
recommend it to 10 - 11year olds.

I would definitely read more of his books. In fact I am reading one right now
 called Timesnatch.

NAME:   The Silver Sword
AUTHOR: Ian Serraillier

The Silver Sword is set in war torn Poland. This book is an extraordinary account
of life as it was for children during and after the Second World War
. It is based on a true story.

My favourite part was when they finally got home, although it was sad.
It was really very touching. I think they were very brave and the
story has taught me that no matter how big a problem is, you can
always overcome it. It was quite an easy book to read.  I would not
recommend this book to my best friend but I would how however , recommend
this book to all children between the age of 11-13 who love to read
war stories.  It has become one of the most popular books to be
published by Puffin.

I would certainly recommend it to my best friend. I already have and she loves the book.

A very scary story written by Robert Swindells that really gets you hooked!

Book: Granny
By: Anthony Horowitz
I.S.B.N: o-7445-3681-2

This book is about a twelve year old boy called Joe Warden.
His granny is very evil, well he thinks so, and she is also very
mean.  His parents are very rich and only think of money.  My best
part in this book is when Joe Warden attempts to poison his granny
and he does not succeed.  I chose this book to do my re review on because
I enjoyed it very much and it was very funny.  Anthony Horowitz
writes funny stories, they are similar to Roald -Dahl's, so if you
have read all of Roald-Dahl's books and you want a change, read this
book.  My sister has just read Granny and now my mother is reading it
so it can be for all ages.   When I read this book I could not put it
down.  So read this book and see what happens.  Thank goodness my
granny is not at all like this one.

Title: The Children Next Door
ISBN: 0 590 55833
I chose this book because one of my friends read it and said it was a good book.

In the book a girl, Laura moves into a new house. This house is from long ago.
It's about 100 years old. She adores the garden and lies in it every
day, but one day she hears children's voices in the next door garden.
It sounded like three children. She peeps through the gate and sees 3
children about her age. She thinks they would have fun to play with.
Then she decides she will go over there and meet them. But when she
gets there, there is only one girl there, Zilla.

Quite a nice part is when she saw the children and what they were saying and doing.

The characters are very believable and extremely interesting.

The story takes place in London. It is important because London is full of history and
Ghosts!

The action does move quickly so it's exciting.

I'd read more books by Jean Ure. She's a good author!

I'd recommend it to a friend who likes scary books.

Title: Weird and Wonderful- The Magic Fruit Machine
Author: Hazel Townson
ISBN: 1-85881-538-x

I chose this book because it looked very exciting.
I liked the part when Bernie got the parcel at the door and I also
liked the part when he couldn't stop pulling the lever because it
sounded weird. There were parts that surprised me especially at the
end. I found the book easy and exciting. I would love  read another
book by Hazel Townson. I would certainly recommend this book to my
friends.

AUTHOR: L.M.Montgomery
TITLE: Anne of Green Gables
ISBN: 0-7704 - 2205 - 5

Anne of Green Gables is about an orphan who goes to live with the Cuthberts
at Green Gables but they really wanted a boy and by mistake they got
a girl. Anne is a dreamer and she talks a lot. Her hair is red but
she wishes it wasn't, she has freckles on her face and she has a
temper. Anne loves Green Gables but she doesn't know i she will stay
there or if the Cuthberts will send her back to the orphanage. My
favourite Part is when Anne breaks her slate on Gilbert's head at
school when he called her "Carrots." There are many series of these
books and the next one is Anne of Avonlea. And in these books they
tell you about Anne growing up. I really enjoyed this book and I want
to read the whole series. I hope you will enjoy it if you read it.
