I select the book "My First Love" because I thought this book is a very interesting book and it was detailed. I felt as if I was actually in the book and I saw what I was reading. My favorite part in this book is when the main character named Amy explains to her mother that she is tired of satisfying her mom and not herself. She says that she is sick of feeling pressured. The characters in this story are described as being very realistic because they have real problems and they are real people and not talking animals or anything. The action in this book is organized in a very good way because things happen right after another. Some of the words used are harder than others. Some of the parts really surprised me because the girl Amy was revealing her feelings with a lot of detail. This story tells me that if you are trying to satisfy some one other than yourself and it isn't making you feel happy. The picture on the cover shows a girl and boy holding hands and smiling. This shows me that in the story a boy and girl like each other a lot. The story takes place in a town mostly at Amy's school and home. Sometimes at her swim team practice. Where the story takes place is very important in this book because if I didn't know where Amy and Chris (Amy's boyfriend) were in the story then I would have no clue about the book or what was happening. I really would like to read more books in this series because they are about love and I am a sucker for love stories.

I would recommend this book to my best friend because she would like this book and this is a very detailed story and shows a lot of emotion.

Beloved

Name: Marsha Segree

School: Carmen Arace Middle School

E-mail: segreem@blmfld.org

The book I select was Beloved because it was a good book that was kind of mysterious and scary at the same time. Beloved was a book you really had to read well to understand what was going on. The characters are kind of weird and some are crazy in the head, but they really all have different attitudes towards life and everything else. Only one character really captured my attention and it was Denver a young girl whose life changes because of a girl who takes her mother away from her. She really got me into the book, because her character was just so real and she was like the only one that was sane, besides Paul D. There is not a lot action, because there is so much flashbacks of their past and not really what is going happen in the future. The book was some what confusing and sometimes I had no idea what they were talking about, but I did get the meaning of the book. The story takes place on a old farm in the state of Ohio. I'm not so sure if I read anymore of the author's book because even through Beloved was good it was hard to understand and maybe her other books would be like that too. This book what to read more about slavery and what happen to the many African-Americans. I would tell people if they what to read the book they would have to be a very mature person to understand what is happening.

The Butter Did It

The Butter Did It

I selected this book because my friend recommended it to me to read. My favorite part was when the food critic went to different restaurants, and tried different foods that she would write about for the newspaper. The characters and the places that were described in the book seem real because they give the name of the places that the food critic went to, and they say how the person looks and how old they are and what type of person they are.

Yes the action does move along quickly, and smoothly. The words are used easy to read, and some of the words are challenging like the French words that I don't know. I thought that the cover illustrations meant that there was some butter that the cooks put in their cooking, and then it did something to the people that ate it and to the food critics. Yes there were parts that surprised me and they were when they started to cuss in the book. No book has not changed the way I thought about the characters. The story takes place in Washington DC. It is important where the story takes place then the rest of the book because this is were mostly all of the food critics take place, and eat. Yes I would like to read more stories by this author, or if they have a sequel to this story then I would go and buy it, and read it. I would tell my best friends that it is a good book because it talks about a food critic. And if was going to tell my best friends that it is not a good book I would say that it has cussing in it and things about death, if you can't handle the death part then you should not read it.

ONE LAST WISH

NAME: AVITAL JAIPERSHAD

SCHOOL: CARMEN ARACE MIDDLE SCHOOL

ADDRESS: 390 PARK AVENUE BLOOMFIELD CT 06002 E-MAIL: JAIPERSHADA@BLMFLD.ORG

One of the best books that I have read was called One Last Wish. This book was an excellent book about a young girl who was brought up with the sickness leukemia. Just as she was starting to feel better a lot of bad things started happening to her. The guardian that she was living with was not really her mother. For 15 years and most of her life the people that she was staying with were her foster parents, and that put burden on her for that rest of her life. I selected this book to read was because it was part of the required reading books over the summer. Little did I know how good it really would be. My favorite part of the book was actually the ending. The author left her readers with a cliff hanger and that made me want to read more of the stories that she wrote. As this book caught my attention the characters seemed so real because a lot of kids these days have the trouble of going through the sickness and having to deal with family problems also. As I was reading the story the climax grew gradually.

It just didn't hop into one thing after another, first there would be a small problem and then the larger problem would occur. The words in this book seemed very easy for me to understand considering I have a very high vocabulary but for students that really don't like very emotional words and big words also they should not read it. Reading the book often made me look back at the cover and see if the cover and title were perfect for the book.

I felt that the title was perfect but the cover should have been more tempting not just a sky and a girl on the cover. As I read on in the book the setting moved from place to place but it was right on time in the story and nothing ever seemed to confuse you, but reading it made me see what some kids have to go through and I am very grateful that I have great health and it makes me want to help dieting kids more often. Right at the moment I am reading another book by the same author with the same title but a different meaning. So far the book has a lot of meaning but I think that I will be way more emotional than the first book. If I were to tell a friend to read this book I would have to say that it would really make you think twice about your life and how fortunate you are and it is great book for the family.

THE SPY WENT DANCING

Name: Arlene Tran

School: Carmen Arace Middle School

Address: 390 Park Avenue

Bloomfield, CT 06002

E-mail: trana@blmfld.org

I selected "THE SPY WENT DANCNG" by Aline Romanones because it had much suspense, mystery, and realistic places during World War II. My favorite part was when Aline, the main character, teams up with the Duchess of Windsor and together they both solve a twenty year old mystery. The characters are placed in real life places and they were real, with different names that is. One of my favorite settings were in Madrid, Spain, especially when it was war time and Aline worked as a spy for the United States. The action rate depends on the settings, characters, and the plot.

The words are used imaginative to make it seem real, like you're actually there. The cover, I think, is very captivating to audiences who seek of a book that holds suspense and mystery. It has a gun, a diamond studded tiger, and a picture in black and white. Yes there were part that surprised me because the characters don't seem like who they used to be in the beginning of the book. Yes, this does change the way I view a character because they are not who they seem to be. The story mainly takes place in Europe. Most of the story takes place in Madrid, Spain, in the 1940 's. The importance of where the story takes place to the rest of the book is that, the place in which the story takes place is like a pathway of descriptions and happenings right there in that place. Yes, I would like to read more books by the same author. In fact, I have and they were superb. They were loaded qualities as this book. To persuade my best friend, I would see if she or he likes suspense and mystery. Then I would let her or him read the flaps and tells him or her some details.

Animorphs, The Encounter

Name: William Rivera II

School: Carmen Arace Middle School

Address: 390 Park Avenue

Bloomfield, CT 06002

E-mail: Riveraw@blmfld.org

I selected this book because I have always been attracted to fictional books, that have action in it. My favorite part was when Tobias was trapped in a hawk form because he was too excited and was too anxious. I chose that because when I put myself in that position I would do the same thing. In the book, the action flies by, but it also gives you even more action right after it. The characters in the book are very much fictional and you could tell, I mean an alien gives five kids morphing powers, Please!!!!!!!!!! Although, the characters are not real, they still get my attention because they are so different. I mean there are shows with robotic transformers, but this is so creative. The words in the book are creatively used, not as much imaginatively used, but otherwise easy to read.

The cover of the book is very creative, especially how they used the two images. Also the little flip book type on the bottom of each page was great. There was one part when the kids were about to get caught, but it happened early in the book, no where close to the end of the book. I was shocked that the author would put that in even though there was a long while until the ending. Really it hasn't really changed my view of the character because they didn't get caught so why would I change my view.

The story takes place in a city somewhere in the United States. They don't really tell me what the city is. Where the story takes place doesn't really affect the rest of the story. They don't really pay much attention to it. I would love to read more books by this author because this book kept me on my toes, I'm sure there many other books in this series, this one was made in the beginning. I wonder what the other books are like. I would tell them that if they want to read this book then they better be prepared to stay on their toes and to be ready because it will surprise with every word that you read from page to page.

BOOK: The information is presented in such a way that the reader will go back in time and remember the memories. Yes, the information is easy to read because it does not have hard words to understand. The thing made me pick this was the thought that these people had to go through the pain and horror. Yes, it does help me learn more about the subject. It does this by taking me into the pain and horror. Yes, it did encourage me to do something. It made me think about problems in a new way and it made me read more on the same subject. I recommend this book for anybody who wants to learn more about the past.

NOVELS: REVIEWS MUST DO THE FOLLOWING

I selected this book because my family said it would be a good book for me to read.. I did not have a favorite part because the whole book is interesting. It captured my attention because I did not know those things and now I do. It does in some parts but some parts it goes into more details. It is really a combination of all three because in some parts it is easy, imaginative and challenging. The colors and illustrations are excellent because it shows me what he really looks like. There were parts that surprised me because I did not know about the places and it makes me want to go there. Some of it has because it makes me feel different towards that person and no one else. The story

takes place where the person is born and raised. It is not that important but the person compares it to when he was a kid. Yes because I would like to learn about other peoples lives. I would tell him to read it because it is a very good book.

Ghost Beach

Name: Austin Davies

School: Carmen Arace Middle School

Email: daviesa@blmfld.org

I selected ghost beach because it has a lot of scary parts. I love scary books. I also like books with a lot of mystery and this book has it.

This book also interesting too. My favorite part in this book is when the two main characters meet a group of kids. The main characters were new to the beach because they came there to visit their grandparents. The group of kids they met were native to the beach. This book is not really all that real but it has a lot of real subjects that take place in this book. The action in this book goes along mediumly. These words are very easy to read.

This book goes along very smoothly. The cover tells a lot about this book.

It tells that it is very spooky and it takes place on a beach. The part that surprised me , was that their friends were right about the ghost. I think the other characters have witnessed the ghost before. The story takes place on a beach. Th setting does not really mater to the plot. Yes I would because all of the mystery. I think you should read this book because it would really get you thinking.

Help, I'm Trapped In My Sisters Body!

NAME: Tedd Brooks

SCHOOL: Carmen Arace Middle School

ADDRESS: 390 Park Avenue

Bloomfield, CT 06002

E-MAIL: brookst@blmfld.org

The book that I have read is Help! I’m Trapped In My Sisters Body. It is a really great book. This book relates to real life experiences. It has great detail as do most books I read, and is really innovative and humorous. I have read this book three times and each time it gets funnier and witty.

As I said this book relates to real life subjects. For example Josh and his friends even from the beginning are ranking on each other. I can relate to that since my friends and I do it all the time. Josh’s older sister loves boys and is always worried about how she looks. Lot’s of or should I say all the girls in my class are like that!!!

Help! I’m Trapped In My Sisters Body also has great details. I mean it feels like I m almost there. All the books that I have read from the Nights of King Arthur to the Hobbit haven’t had so many details. It seems like I am really there when there in the Dirkensens lab and Josh and his older sister are about switch bodies. I can actually or almost see them getting zapped into each other’s bodies, I can see them getting mad and see the expressions on their friend's faces because of what had happened.

Hey this book is where the details are at. This book is not only great because of details, but it is because of the characters that bring on humor. This book is witty and humorous at the same time. The only way I can read a book is if there is some type of humor, but it can’t be subtle. That’s one reason why I like Dave Barry (Author of Dave Barry Slept Here a Sort of History of the United States).

I love it when Josh and his friends rank on each other, I also like when Josh call’s his sister's boyfriend Dan a zitface and said that you would need 4-wheel drive to get across his face. If you think that’s funny then you need to read this book.

Now, I know there some people out there who hate humor a lot, but humor is always good for the soul it can help cure the person. Take Patch Adams for example he used humor to bring laughter to his patients it does well. I know people don’t like lot’s of details and just like plain books! Well guess what if you have not read any books with details then your missing out, you can go on far away places with details.

Just Imagine. As I said before this book is great!! If your looking’ for details it’s got it. If you are looking for wittiness and good clean humor then here it is. All of these qualities are in all in one good book Help! I’m trapped In My Sisters Body you have to read some time!

If you like a suspenseful, breathe taking, and an adventurous book. Read, Gary Pulsen's "Captive". I choose this book because, the book looked liked a adventurous book. It also won a lot of awards. The cover of this book tells you most of the story. This book will keep you on the end of your seat waiting to read what’s going to happen next. Gary Pulsen gave a lot of details so it is like your watching a movie.

My favorite part is when the 3 boys are locked in the delivery truck and are buried 5-10 feet in the dirt. So if you want an adventurous book check out CAPTIVE.

I chose the book called "The Hitchhiker" because the cover was eye-catching and it was written by R.L. Stine and I liked some of his other npvels. When I first took the book from my sisters room to bring for SSR I didn't know that I would become attached and get into the book. This book is about a hicthhiker who gets picked up by these two girls that he travels with for a while. The book makes you assume one thing about the book but when another thing is happening. Also R.L. Stine makes you want to never put the book down. Near the end of the book gets a little violent and gross. This book is a book where you can never predict the right ending.

Those are the main reasons why I thought "The Hitchhiker" was a good book.

If you like Goosebump books or other books written by R.L. Stine then you will like this book.

I really didn't select my book, I was drawn to it. In class a lady from the library came and read the back of several books. It was one of the newberry award books so it was read. I thought it was interesting so I read it. It became my favorite book. Itstarted out with the main character getting ready to race. He was so excited he would be the fastest runner. Then a girlo came along. Lesley Burke, she beat him and he was mad but they began to talk and became friends. They had vivid imaginations and created a imaginary place called Terabithia. There were gaits who resembled people they didn't like and they fought them. THey had great fun and hardships like when it happened. I selected to tell you about this book because it's the best book in the wooooorrrrrllllllddddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was so good because even though they are in an imaganary place ypou can relate to them. the action moves quickly but you don't miss a detail.

it's great. There were some parts that surprised me like when that horrific thing happen to .............. oohhh! i almost told you what happened.

Read and find out.

The book I read is called WHERE THE BOYS ARE I know your probably thinking that because of the title its all about boys but if you do you are wrong.Well the book is about this boy named Ben Harris,he had to go find a job.He went to this hotel and had to take a job as a maid that was the only job left so he had to take it.One day when he was going out side of the hotel to where the beach was to get something and there was this girl saying "Astrid come down from there come on now" when Ben heard the loud voice so he went over to see what i was and there was the girl talking to her cat trying to get him out of the tree,Ben was going to get the cat until he looked over and saw that the girl was the best looking girl that he has ever saw in a long long while. Then Ben climbed up the tree and got Astrid the girl didnt even notice Ben(he thought)and to her cat and left.Ben was very disappointed about that and went to go clean a man that rented a bungalow and was never there, the man name was Ben Hult. While he was cleaning someone knoked on the door,Ben when to go get iot and at his suprise it was the girl that owned the cat in the tree, she said I was looking for you and didnt know where you are but when I looked I saw you come into Ben Hults bungalow,so you must be Ben Hult ,she kept going not giving Ben Harris time to talk,oh so you must know my cousin after all you are is best friend arent you,Ben knew that everyone here was rish and that he wasnt and if he told her no then she probably wouldnt want to date him so he told her yes. Then she said by the way my name is Leslieand that was the end of that and Ben was determened to date her even if he had to pretend to be a surtain person.

That is just a bit of the beginning of my book if you want to know more then you should try to buy or get the book WHERE THE BOYS ARE.

The Violence , And the lost of Cain and Abel

The reason of selecting this book was because in many ways I had a idea of what this book was going to be about so I wanted to base it on another book to see what the differences between the two books by what information they gave . The characters and places were describe very well , realistic . The words used in this book was a higher level of lanuage it was readable . The part that suprised me was when Cain killed his brother Abel and dined it . This book haven’t change my way or opion of any of the characters . I really can’t say that the illustrators did a good job of drawing the cover wasn’t something that could ket my eye . The authors of this book , yes , written many other books but i can’t say just by reading this book i wouldn’t want to read any other books by her only depending if the book is interestin . To presudae someone else to read this book the only thing i could say is

this book is interesting and it is sort of like the true story in the bible of Cain and Abel. The information in this book is presented in sections meaning chapter one the birth of them second chapter while growing up, third chapter opputions. I think the way this was presented it was a easy formation to read and understand. This book really has nothing to do with a subject. No,this book really didn’t pretain or encorauge me to do any other subject .

Help I am trapped in the first day of school!

E-mail: jonesm@blmfld.org

I recommend "Help I am trapped in the first day of school!" because it is an interesting, yet humorous book. My favorite is when Jake and Alex send Oliver to the wrong classroom on the other side of the school. That was my favorite part in the book because it was very funny. All of the characters and places in this story are very believable. The action in this book seems to move along slowly. The words are easy to read. The cover of "Help I am trapped in the first day of school!" was very attractive and that's what motivated me to read the book. Some parts surprised me like when Jake made the mistake about who's house burned down. The way I think about is not to jump to conclusions. This story takes place somewhere in the suburbs. The setting in the suburbs is the best kind of backround for this story because these characters don't act rich or poor so the suburbs best fit. I'd like to read more of the series because I like the way Todd S. writtes his novels. This book is not difficult, and is really enjoyable because of the humor.

Goosebumps: Night of the Living Dummy II

elliottl@blmfld.org

I selected a Goosebumps book becasue they are amazing, and scary. The Goosebump book I chose was the "Night of the Living Dummy II." My favorite part in the story is when the dummy comes alive, and starts to destory things in a evil way. The characters in this book came be descirbed believable because, they are people. The places also can be described believable because, they are places we can go to. The only thing that can be described as something that catches your imingation or attention, is the dummy. He is imaginary because, he could talk, walk, and destroy things.

The dummy names is Slappy. The action in this story moves along real quickly, because, it catches my eye after the first page. This story book makes me wat to turn page after page because, it is so good! I also think that this book has very imaginative words in them. The cover is also, very illustrated and colorful. (that's what cought my eyes) This book probably chaged the view of the character, Amy, because, when the dummy was destroying things everyone in the household thought it was Amy. Until at the end, the dummy was kilt and things wasn't destroyed. There were lots of parts in this story that surprised me and required me to laugh. This story book usually takes place at the home of Amy and her family. (owner of Slappy) I love reading Goosebumps because, they are very interesting and some are very scary. This book was somewhat scary, but it was very amusing. (I laughed my butt off) It has great features of scaryness and greatness of laughter. This book to me is required funny and very amazing. This book is the best!

The book that I have selected was Nothing Hurts But My Heart .I have selected this book because it has life experimence that a teenager would go through today. The characters that are used in this novel are like people in this world today. In this book they have alot to say about their looks, boys, and many more topics about tennage life. The book is like your bible about how other people go through life. The words are easy to read and they are the words we used today . When I saw the cover I thought it was a struggle through gymastics and she had a diease . The part that surprised me the most when she got to preform in the regionals with her brace on. It takes place in a little town like Bloomfieldbut has more stores. I would like to read more of her book because it represents to life experienece. I would tell my best friend that if she did not read this book she is missing a lot.

GOOSEBUMPS-ONE DAY AT HORRORLAND

NAME:TERRANCE CARTER

SCHOOL:CARMEN ARACE MIDDLE SCHOOL

ADDRESS:390 PARK AVENUE

BLOOMFIELD, CT 06002

E-MAIL: CARTERT@BLMFLD.ORG

I have selected the Goosebumps book One Day at Horrorland because I like Goosebump book. The characters on the book are either funny or they are being stupid. I

like having those kinds of actions when I read a book because I don’t want to read a book that is dull and boring. The book is about family menbers and 1 friend (1 dad, 1 mom, and 3 children) who was going on vacation when they see a sign which says there is a carnival near by. The two kids kept bugging the parents to go there so the parents finally gave in not knowing what is going to happen. Everyone gets to the ticket booth where there is no one there and so they wait until all of a sudden their car just blows up. After that they ended up getting in but they were not to happy about there car being blown up actually they were very upset they were willing to go toe to toe with the manager ( the manager is a monster and so are the employees) of the place, but that didn’t happen. The parents went to go look for a phone and the children went to find something to do. The children went through some very scary experiences being by themselves. They were at a point of no return but they still manage to find each other. One thought that one disappeared the other thought the other was eaten it was a scary experience for them. About three hours later the kids found the parents and there friends parents. The monster manager said sorry about the car and said that there is one waiting for them outside. Thats not the way it happened, the visitors went out a door and found themselves in a maze with only 3 minutes to live unless they got out. Fortunetly they got out but there was no car. The monstersevaporated and the way that happened was that wveryone kept pinching the monsters and after all of that chaos they escaped. My favorite part in the whole story was the when the friend gotten lost and the rest of the kids went into total chaos looking for him.

That is my favorite part because I thought that they wern’t going to find him and I do like mysteries. I would like to read more books by R.L. Stine because I like his novels and his is a very exquisite writer. I would tell people to read this book because it is a mystery and you will never know what is going to happen. just think I enjoyed the book.

book has a wild monkey in a ripted lab coat playing with chemicals. There are some parts that surprised me like when tazan came in one of the endings.See Depending on

I selected this book because I like horses. My favorite part was when the lady bought the horse because the horse wasn't getting enough care. The cha has racters are describe believible and the action moved along some what quickly. The words were challenging.

The horse on the cover looked real and yes there were parts that suprised me.Yes it has change the way I think about horses. The story takes place in California. I would tell that person if you like horses, you would love this book.

I chose this book because I believe that it was very interesting. Also, if anyone was in this kind of trouble I think they would do just fine with the advice and action of the book. My favorite part in the book was when the boy Brian was being eaten alive by the poisonous mosquitoes. He only had a torn wind-breaker to help protect him from the thousands of swarming mosquitoes. The setting and characters are described in a very realistic manner. My attention was caught by the unbelievable details, description, and action. The action was very easy to move along with because I understood the book very well. The words in this book are easy to read and understand. I think the cover of the book is very plain but I can quickly get a picture in my imagination. The part that really surprised me was when the pilots eyes started rolling back into his head. Nothing changed when I saw that particular action. This story happens to take place in the wilderness of Canada. If the story didn't take place where it did the story would change drastically. All the surroundings and action that was around him would have changed. No, I think this book was good enough for me and I'll settle with the understanding I had. If I had to tell my best friend about this book I would tell her that it is a wonderful novel and she would enjoy it very much if she took the time to read it.
