Maywood Center
SeaTac, Washington, USA
April 28-April 30, 1997

April 21 will see a pre-arrival get together for Benni to begin planning for Benni's arrival. The K-3 kids just finished their first internet project called Signs of Spring with Nancy Schubert and wanted to do another project so Maywood's Kidlink Kid's will be sharing Benni with them and the other homeschoolers at Maywood. Excitement is building!!
On Friday, April 25, provided he has arrived, he will accompany us on a tour of the school building that the Homeschool and C.H.O.I.C.E. programs will be moving to for next year. We are all a little scared at the change so Benni will be our special friend.
Benni will spend one morning with the 7-12 grade C.H.O.I.C.E. classes.
Watch out for Mr. Guise and his video camera!!

My name is Wesley Smith. I go to Maywood Center. Does Benni travel in a big box? About how long did it take Benni to get to your school? Were you excited? What size is he?
My name is Chandler Marcille. At the Maywood Center. I'd like to know why he comes to the schools and what is in the box.
>From Wesley Smith, Maywood Center Kidlink reporter: My name is Sarah Jobe-Cuba. How did the water stay so cold? What did you use to store it in? Where did you get the water?

What is it like to live near an active volcano? My name is Rachael, I am
seven and looking forward to Benni.
At this point we slow down to place the items from each class on the table so everyone can
look through the items.

Wesley Smith, Kidlink Kid from Maywood Center reporting on Benni's visit:
I wrote this for Benni's box:
I live in Kent, Washington. It's south of Seattle where the space needle
is. My family flew over your country last summer when we were coming
home from visiting grandpa in Wales, we saw icebergs.
I enjoy working on the computer. My dad works for Boeing Airplane Co. My
mom homeschools me at home. I also take piano, swimming, and computer
lessons. Is it cold in Iceland?
We are having a sunny day today. Maybe I'll visit Iceland someday.
Bye for now.
Your friend Meagan
The students then spend a few minutes writing an email message to the KIDPROJ list describing their reactions to Benni's visit. Wesley Smith and Chris Foote are visiting the C.H.O.I.C.E. class today in preparation for their entrance into 7th grade next year.
Date: Wed, 30 Apr 1997 11:57:48 -0700
When Benni came everyone was excitied to see what was in his box. When
the water came it was still cold. There where lots of things and we saw
where they all came from. My favorite was the Angels Hat and the Rangers
Pennent.
From Wesley Smith age 11 grade 6
Benni was alot fun. To see all the different contributions was pretty
cool. This was a very good idea to think of and I hope Benni makes a good
distance in traveling.

Hey!!!!!!!!!!! ~Jeanette~
Hi! I'm a CHOICE student in the 10th grade here in the rainy state of
Washington. I think that it's nice to be able to interact or
communicate with students from various places around the globe. Writing

To the kids in Iceland. My name is Meagan Jung. Thank you for sharing
Benni with us. We liked seeing all the places Benni has been and all the

Wednesday, April 30, C.H.O.I.C.E. Class
Today Benni visited Mrs. Sedberry's 7-12 grade C.H.O.I.C.E. (Children Have Options In Choosing Education) class. She holds Benni up and then reads some of the things in his box.
The students are asked to create something demonstrating their elective classes and Richard Kibbie binds them into a book with of a cover of his design. He is known as the class artist!
