Kid's Reflections About Benni's Visit

I thought Benni and his project was cool. I thought it was cool to have a traveler visit our class and to se where he has been so far and what he did there. What I liked about it was to see his stuff and to listen to the Icelandic music. I wonder, what else to Iceland people listen to? What kind of food do people eat from Iceland?

Felicia

Benni's visit was nice. The project was cool because you got to learn things and you can see things you never have seen before. Fo example, who ever thought one of us got to see water from Iceland! We took pictures with. There were many class pictures in the box he had. The thing I really liked in his box was the class pcitures. I like class pictures because you get to see the whole class. One of the things we gave him was an "Ice Bats" puck (the Ice Bats are our local ice hockey team...) We saw water from Lake Michigan and posters, too. Benni's visit was nice.

Rhino

I think it's a neat idea what they did with Benni. You can learn stuff from what's in his box. I like the stories there were, and the way some kids thought the way Texas was seemed wierd to me. There were questions asking if we rode horses to school (not here in Austin), and if we only eat chili and beans (nope to that too;>). What I liked a lot about it was the neat ideas they did for Benni. Like he had his own cap. He had an extra pair of clothes that he never used. He had a book to keep him occupied. I also liked the idea of giving water samples from Michigan and Iceland. I liked the way Benni's box was decorated. I liked his back pack and just in case Benni got lost, there's a tag with his address. I thought he was a cute little bear, and it was fun having him in our room.

Habib

I think a bear was a good choice. I liked Benni very much. The project was a good idea! The project should have told people all about places other than their home town and their state. I liked how the people put all the different things about their states and cities. Also, I liked how they put things native to their sates, like water from Lake Michigan, and they drew lots of pictures and took lots of pictures.

Will

I think the Benni project was fun, because he had because he had been to all those states and countries. I though it was fun looking through his stuff. Even though Benni did not speak, he was fun to have in our class.

Matt

I thought Benni was very cute, and his travels were very interesting. I think that it's good that a teddy bear is being sent around instead of a person, because people like teddy bears more than people sometimes;> I liked looking at the books and the pictures in Benni's box, but my favorite thing was his backpack and the stuff in it!

Corley

I thought Benni was an interesting, educational, and cute project. He was much better than those "around the world" chain letters. It was interesting to read about the other countries and continents he's been to. They really did interesting things to tell and show about their environment. It was also fun to look at his little backpack with the "passport". I really enjoyed this project, and I hope you continue doing it!

Rachel G.

I thought that Benni was very interesting. The things in the box were all very interesting. The project was very educational and taught you about what all different people from different places do for fun, for work and for entertainment. What I really liked about the project was that each of us got to look through the box and read the information given by other people. It was interesting how there was water from Lake Michigan and Iceland. The soccer outfit was neat. I liked the book from Iceland even though I couldn't read it. It was neat to read from the journal what oother people had been doing with Benni. The pictures were also interesting. The postcards were interesting, too. It's neat how one class took the time to take Benni, a teddy bear, to Disneyland! It's neat how people have spent their time to send Benni around the world. It would be great to get to see the finished project!

Paola

I thought that Benni was a cool bear, and all the stuff that he had, and the project were cool. I liked the stories that the kids wrote and the stories about the environment that they live in. I liked all the things in the box, like the stories, the bottles of water, and all the other stuff in the box.

Stewart

I thought Benni was small, cute, soft, and fun. I thought that Benni had fun when he went with us to visit O. Henry Middle School with us that day. I think that the people that put all this together and sent him all around places are really special and bright people, and I thought that this was a good project! What I really liked about this project was that when Benni went to O.Henry with us, and other people saw him, they thought he was really cute. I also like this project because it was really nice of other classes to buy things for Benni and then send them to the people in Iceland. It was really nice of the class in Iceland to send samples to the other classes.

Stephanie

I thought that it was neat to have a travelling bear come to our class. I thought so, because we got to read about where he has been, and what he did there. I thought this project was neat because it was fun to look in his box to see where he had been, and what he collected on his trip. I liked the flags Benni had in his box, because they showed me what Iceland's flag looked like. I also liked his extra clothes he had, because they looked neat.

William

I think Benni is a neat project to learn about other places. I think it's a good idea to send a teddy bear (Benni). There were some neat things in Benni's box. I also think it was a good idea to make the teddy bear travel around, because if it were a person, it would be much more expensive (hotels, and restaurants). Benni only sleeps in the classrom, and he doesn't need to eat;>

Dear Cate,

Hi!!!!!! I am fine. Thanks for your letter. Yes, Benni the travelling bear was really cool to me. I bet you were excited when you heard of him, so was I. To me, the box was not that heavy when my class got it. But I'm not so sure how heavy the box was. The only extra clothes I sawa dn know of was a soccer outfit. I don't think he liked the heat in Austin very much. Mostly because it was raining most of the time he was here.

Iceland's flag has a red cross edged in white that appears on a blue field. Blue is the national color, red and white recall the flag of Denmark, Iceland's former ruler. Oh!!!! Did you know that Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland! Did you also know the money from Iceland is called "krona"?

How old ar4e you? What's your favorite school subject? What's your favorite color (or colors)? Last, but not least, what's your favorite TV show?

Your friend,
Felicia C.

Stephanie,

Thank you for replying. I like it very much when people reply to my letters. I'm surprised you agreed with me. Many people didn't. The project was very interesting wasn't it? I don't have much to way,

Dear Teena,

Last Tuesday you wrote to me. I live in Austin, Texas and a few weeks ago Benni came to visit our class. It was fun to see what was in the box. Benni is not a talking bear. He wears a little shirt with the names of his classmates in Iceland signed on it. I do not remember what colors are on the Icelandic flag (another classmate, Felicia sent a note to your classmate with that information). Sorry! Thanks for writing to me. It was fun to read what you wrote.

Yours truly,
Paola

Dear April,

This is Matthew. When we had Benni, we went through his stuff to see where he had been. We took him when we visited the Junior High we're going to. Besides those two things, and discussing what we needed to put in his box, we didn't do anything else.

Bye,
Matt
