Quick Start

Here are the essentials for participating in Kidforum.  You really don't have to do anything else.  Please remember that all classes and kids are welcome to contribute to each Kidforum topic as much or as little as they wish.

1. Have your students answer Kidlink's Four Questions, as all Kidlink participants do.

2. Find a topic that interests you on the Kidforum Schedule Page.  Kidforum topics are usually available from October through May, at least.

3. While this topic is going on, read the Kidforum messages on your chosen topic, using the World-Wide Web.

4. When your class is ready to send its own messages in response to the topic, or in reaction to particular messages from other classes, send your contributions by means of the World-Wide Web or send them by regular email to
kidforum@listserv.nodak.edu

 

There are some optional but helpful steps, too:

1. Subscribe to the Kidforum list by sending an email message to
listserv@listserv.nodak.edu
The body of the message should read
subscribe kidforum
followed by your real first and last name.  If you subscribe to the Kidforum list, you can receive all Kidforum messages in your email.

2. Subscribe to the Kidforum-Coord list by sending an email message to
listserv@listserv.nodak.edu
The body of the message should read
subscribe kidforum-coord
followed by your real first and last name.  If you subscribe to the Kidforum-Coord list, you can receive all Kidforum-Coord messages in your email.  In Kidforum-Coord, planning for Kidforum topics takes place.

3. Register for the topic in which you are participating.  Registration allows to topic moderators to be more familiar with the participating classes.

4. Register for Kidlink IRC, so that your classes can participate in an IRC chat, if your topic offers one.
