PRESENTATION OF THE PROJECT

    Hello friends,
You have all answered the 4 Kidlink Questions, and perhaps you remember what you wrote...
If not, click here and go to the RESPONSE page to find out.....
The third and fourth question is closely linked to our Blue Print Earth topic of -98:
How do I want the world to be a better place to grow up ?
What can I do to make it happen now ?
Indu and I would like you to respond to this years edition of Blue Print by reviewing your answers and perhaps add something to them, if you like.
You'll find your answers by visiting this page.....
Indu and I have also looked back on previous Blue Print editions on Kidforum and read through the answers given by partisipants in earlier years.
We have tried to do some changes to this years edition of Blue Print, and we hope you'll like the changes and join us in this edition of Blue Print Earth.

We'll also suggest that the different part of this topic is done in class or a group, where all students can take part in the talks and discussions.
Perhaps you can choose one or two students to be in responsible for taking notes and typing the answers from your class/group and send them to the Kidforum list.

We all know that our environment is important.
But what do we mean when we say: ENVIRONMENT ?

It is a word containing a lot of meanings. We will explore as many of them as possible during this topic.
We will start close to home and them move through our hometown, then through our state/country out into
our global community.

During the topic we'll make webpages with your contributions - both texts and pictures.
Please remember to send your e-mails to the Kidforum list and the picturefiles in *.gif or *.jpg format
to rich@axp1.pmddata.no  - Tor Arne.

The first part, Environment at home. ( March 1. - 12. )

    What is your home like?
Is it a flat in the city, a house in the country-side??
    Or something else???
Please make a discription of where and how you live.
If you can make a drawing or send us a picture, it would be great...
Please describe the environment in your neighbourhood.
PS. See list of KEY WORDS you might include in your description
They'll be put up on our webpage.

    KEYWORDS:

    - fresh air & water / polluted air & water
    - little / a lot of traffic
    - busses & trains / cars
    - safe to walk on the streets / not safe to walk outside
    - peaceful / violent
    - drugfree / drugs
    - no alcohol / alcohol
    - good friends / no friends

The second part, Environment in your city. ( March 13. - 21. )
    Where do you live ?
In a city, suburb, country erea or somewhere else?
Please describe the erea where you live and where your school is.
How do you get to school?
Do you feel safe on the street where you live?
Do you have places to play in-door and out-door?
How is the air where you live?
Fresh, polluted by factories or cars?
    What about the water?
Can you drink it or do you have to buy it in bottles?
What kind of public transportation is there in the erea where you live?
Do most people use cars, bikes, trains or busses?

The third part, Environment in your state/country...  ( March 22. - April 3. )

In this part of the topic, we would like you to share with us some thoughts about your state or country..

Are there many big cities in your country ?
What do people do for a living in your country? Please give some examples.
What can you tell us about the "environment" in your country?
What do you think about it?

Here are some key words from Blue Print -96 if you need them... :

    - about safety for people
    - about drugs and crime
    - about pollution of air and soil
    - about "pollution" of our minds - from films or TV
    - about endangeres spices
    - about deforestation

    - And you can add more if you like....

Some of them might not be right for your country...

Part four, Our Global Environment  ( April 4. - 15. )

A few months ago, state officials from states/countries all over the world gathered in Kyoto in Japan
to talk about the GLOBAL ENVIRONMENT and how they could make it better.
One of the many important things they discussed was the CO2gas and the GREENHOUSE effect.
We would like you to find out where this CO2 gas comes from and what it has got to
    do with the GREENHOUSE effect.
And - by the way - what is this GREENHOUSE effect.
Why can it be dangerous for our world?
What are the other environmental dangers our world faces?

Please make a list and send it to the Kidforum mailinglist.

Indu and I alo would like you to find out what causes these problems.
    Where do pollution come from?
What substances or liquids causes the problems?
Where on earth do you think that the problems is largest?

Part five, Possible Sollutions - and Summing up ( April 16. - 30. )
Time for Inventions and writing short stories / poems about our future.  Related to the Kidlink Quesitons, we are also to concider what we can do to improve our
world and make it a better place to live - now and for the years to come.

There are "things" we can do.

In the last 3 years, Blue Print People have invented gadgets dealing with one or more of the
problems described during the first parts of the topic. We would also challenge you to do so this year.

What kind of gadgets would solve the problems you feel are the closest and most important to you?

Let the INVENTORS lose creating solutions for the next millenium.

Please remember to describe what problem your invention is going to take care of......

Please send the discriptions and  "user's manuals" to the Kidforum list and drawing/pictures
to Tor Arne at rich@axp1.pmddata.no to be put on the web.

You will all "recieve" $10.000 in "virtual money" to spend on the 4 gadgets you think are best suited
to decrease local or global environment problems. Please send a separate mail to the Kidforum list
with your class decision on the four gadgets you think is the best.

Another important question to concider is this:
What can we do now to make our world better?
We would like you to discuss possible suggestions in your classrooms and form the
answers into a story, poem and send this to the Kidforum list.
Short stories or poems looks even better with drawing in it, so please take the time to illustrate your texts. They will be presented on the "ESSAY" webpages for the world to see....
