Things to Look for

Hello Blue Print Earth participants!

As we look at the problems that we presently encounter in the world, take a close look around home at some of the trivial things, such as packaging.
Analyze packaging of materials and see how often the packaging is unnecessary or is done with materials that are not environmentally friendly.
If this is the case, do you have a suggestion for improvement, or perhaps you could send a letter to the company which is responsible for inappropriate packaging.

For analyzing the packaging examine at least ten different products.
If you are working in a group of two or three, the number of products examined can be higher.

Record your findings in a chart with the following headings:
What Sort of Item Unnecessary Packing Recyclable or Not Suggestions for Improvement

You can then write your conclusions in a separate paragraph.

This may even be a good beginning for your essay or the creative writing piece you are going to do in this project.

Pollution Catcher

Put Out A Pollution Catcher

Hello Blue Print Earth participants!

Some air pollution you can see and some you can't. Some air pollution you can recognize only by what happens because of it.

Here's an interesting activity for you to do.

On dry sunny day put out a pollution catcher. Use a coffee filter or a piece of absorbent paper towel.
Choose a place where paper won't get dirty in any other way than from air, or blow away, e.g. a clothes line.
Place your coffee filter or paper towel and come back 24 hours later to check on it and see if you found any traces of air pollution.
Check to see if the paper collected any dirt or dust particles. Try to put the paper in more than one place and observe.

Compare your findings with other students in your class and post them on the Internet. Let's see which place has the cleanest air.

You can also list some effects of air pollution of you are aware of any, e.g. if there are any diseases caused by air pollution or spraying of crops done in your area.
