Blue Print Earth Essay

Problems Realated To Trucking

There are lots of problems caused by cars and trucks. Some are because of drinking and driving and some are because of careless driving. Most of the time people get hurt or even killed by the careless driving. The following paragraphs will tell about the accidents and the things that cause them.
It isn't fair how people drive with a bottle of alcohol and run into some pedestrian and the pedestrian loses his life. The drunk driver is not arrested. It is the law not to drink and drive so people should follow that law.
Before they get drunk, people should think. It's so easy. They should be arrested.A fine may not teach the lesson.
I think trucking is bad because when a car is on the road driving the big truck tries to pass them not knowing that they are too big and could cause accidents.
The trucks can also tear up the road because their loads are very heavy plus they're very heavy their selves.
Trucking exhaust can cause trouble because the exhaust cause pollution. Maybe they should invent electric trucks like the cars that are made in Japan. Then there wouldn't be pollution from trucks.
Vehicle accidents is a very big problem around the world. For example, there were 3 deaths related to snowmobiles since the start of the New Year in New Brunswick. A person went to hospital in serious condition after his snowmobile hit a rock.
Hundreds of people lose their lives every year because of vehicles. Not just snowmobiles, but cars, trucks, and machinery. Vehicle accidents are mostly caused by drunk drivers, ice, and snow.

Gaia
by 6th Graders at Eydehavn

Brainstorming.
What will Gaia be like in 500 years from now?

The countdown has started.
The spacetravellers are on board teh starship "GAIA" bound for all the plants in our solarsystem.
It's going to be a long trip - several hundred years.
Informations about the earth is gathered and stored in large computers onboard "GAIA".
The enourmous engines in the starship roar and slowly lift the ship off the ground.
The ship is heading twards Pluto...
We know little about the next houndreds of years on board the starship...

What WE did, we woted to see who thought that the earth was a better or worse place to return to, in the 25 century..
11 students were sure that we had managed to solve our environment problems,
7 said that we hadn't been able to do so..
What did they say, those who didn't believe in our future?
A lot of people had died of pollution, and most of those who still were alive were very poor.
Those who could afford it have to use masks..
Garbage all over...
Nature was destroyed..
All water was dirty..
Some people had escaped out into space, to settle on other planets...
Not a very bright future...

What would it be like if "things" had turned to the better, we asked.....
Well, our cars would run on electric power from batteries charged by the sun...
The forests had grown bigger and the soil was "in better shape"...
The water was purer and there were more wild animals around..
And perhaps one of the most important: All weapons were destroyed...
The ozon layer was repared and there were practically no pollution.
People had also stopped smoking and drinking too much alcohol and noone was using drugs.
A future we would like to come...

One thing we alle understood.
If our future is going to be better, we - THE PEOPLE OF THE WESTERN WORLD - have to reduce our consumption a lot.
We have to live with a reduced standard of living.
This means that we don't have a lot of money to spend...
We are not allowed to drive our own car...
We have to take the bus - or even use a bike to get where we want...

We live on a small planet, and we have to take care of it!!!

Gaia in 2200

It is the year 2200, some aliens are visiting the planet Gaia.
Through a message, sent in 1997, their interest in Gaia had been awaken. The message accounted for the problems and the difficulties the inhabitans of Gaia were fighting against.
Evidently the situation was so serious that Gaia, if nothing was done, risked to be a planet without life.
At the same time there were some positive expectations:

"If everyone helps each other it will be a good environment on Gaia."
How did the inhabitans of Gaia succeed?
The visitors have excitedly waited for their results measurements, eximinations and interviews - because mankind, evidently, survived.
With wonder and pleasure the aliens report on the results of the joint efforts that the people have made in saving their planet.
"In the 1990 s there were many people who were worried about that the ozon layer would be destroyed, causing burn injures, cancer and that even the polar ices would melt down. Holes in the ozon layer, caused by freon, had been discovered."

"Freon had been forbidden and ozon layer is now healed. The population has replaced their old , so called cars, driven by fuel maid of oil, by vehicles which are driven by a kind of non - pollution gas which doesn t destroy the nature.
You don t need any oil anymore.
The oceans have once again become clear and blue because there are no dischargings of oil and other effluents."

"The danger for a green - house - effects seems to be over, cause the factories now control their outlet."

"A clear rain, not a acid one, can now be allowed to fall over this green and blue planet."

" The threatened rainforest has now grown up again and the animals thrive again, not least the spiecis of fish have breeded.
Even the chemicals are now used for helping Mother Nature to recover"

" The last war on Gaia obviously broke out in 1999.
All the countries on the planet were involved.
Nuclear weapons were used and Washington DC, the capital of U.S.A was in ruins.
Most countries lost a great part of population. The strange thing was that everybody had forgotten what they were fighting about-evryone had lost.
Now the greatest leaders of the world were assembled in the new capital of USA, Detroit , and there they decided that all weapons should be disarmed."

" Yes, together they have been succesful in creating a better world, or as someone said:
- Imagine how much we ve hoped and fought for a better world, now we've hoped and fought for a good envrorment, a peaceful world, without any racism a drug -,alcohol- and tobaccofree population... it s a place where our children and grand children have a future."
