KIDCAFE-SCHOOL is supervised by the schools registered
to use the list. It is important that teachers and students are aware of
the procedure for sending messages to the list, as this list is "thematic",
in order to promote discussions between students.
Teachers may NOT send messages to the list. Teacher dialog takes
place on KIDCAFE-COORD.
SENDING MESSAGES
To help organize messages sent to the list, use
the SUBJECT: line as described below.
First message to KIDCAFE-SCHOOL
The first message sent to the list should be an "introduction".
The word INTRO should be written in the subject line.
To : KIDCAFE-SCHOOL@LISTSERV.NODAK.EDU
Cc :
Attchmnt:
Subject : INTRO
----- Message Text -----
Students should tell a little bit about themselves and their interests.
One of the members of the KIDCAFE-SCHOOL team will respond with suggestions
for topics to join, based on the student's interests, and explaining how
to start new topics for discussion.
Writing messages about topics
To encourage dialogue among participants,
messages to our list should indicate the general
topic being discussed.
For example, if you wanted to talk about all the new movies out during the
summer, you'd send a msg. like this:
To : KIDCAFE-SCHOOL@LISTSERV.NODAK.EDU
Cc :
Attchmnt:
Subject : MOVIES: Summer Blockbusters
----- Message Text -----
Anyone can write messages to any
topic. Just be sure that the message you send falls within the topic genre.
For example, don't talk about SPORTS under the topic of MUSIC, unless there
is some correlation.
Try to avoid messages like, "Somebody write to
me." You typically do not get a response to those kind of messages.
Join in a dialogue already in progress, begin a new discussion on a dialogue
in progress.
To start a new topic of interest to you, or ask one
of the KIDCAFE-School helpers for discussion or topic ideas send a message
like this:
To : KIDCAFE-SCHOOL@LISTSERV.NODAK.EDU
Cc :
Attchmnt:
Subject : TOPIC IDEAS
